Te Whanganui-a-tara! It’s been over 18 months since our last Morning People party in the capital, and we reckon it’s about time we put that right.

There’s a small but perfectly formed new venue with a badass Tubbs sound system about to open, and we’re lucky enough to be among the first to party in the new space. Kia ora @publicservicecenter.nz!

On DJ duties is @bontempo__ , whose name loosely translates to “good time” - and that’s exactly what she delivers.

Known for her dynamic, genre-hopping sets that throw the rulebook out the window, Bonnie is a firm believer that there’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure.

She’s brought her infectious energy to some of Aotearoa’s best parties and festivals, including Splore, Flamingo Pier, R&A, Two Minds Festival and Le Currents.

@thirzasmith and I went on holiday. Many steaks—as well as smaller quantities of snails and cheeses—were eaten, cocktails were consumed in excess, many games of monopoly deal were played, and one loud argument was had (about monopoly deal) but we are still friends I think by @bontempo__

We've been friends with Bontempo and Christopher Tubbs since the late 2010's. We met them both playing on the same bills together at the excellent 121 parties, then hosted them on Waiheke, at Pleasure and Afternoon Delight. They were the first names on our wishlist when we were thinking about DJs to join us at Meow Nui and we're stoked to have them onboard for October 9! by @bontempo__

I’m on holiday btw (in June/July I listened to this song constantly and thought about being on holiday while I was toiling at the office, ‘twas a meditation of sorts. Now I am living the reality and it’s actually way better than I thought and also way better than what I can portray on instagram. Nice) by @bontempo__

warning: feelings, emotions, eating.
Before departing on this trip, I was certain that I wouldn’t have a good time because I couldn’t imagine being comfortable with my body showing, even alone in a foreign country. I feel insane when I lay the facts bare: the first time I worried about how my body looked was the same year as 9/11; some of my friends now hadn’t yet graced the earth at that time. My weight increased 20% between 2025-2026 (I am using a percentage in the hope it won’t be triggering to anyone) and there are times I think I’d rather disappear than wear a swimsuit. In my head, my anxiety now is justified, but in the last 5 years I have also been sat down several times by loved ones who were concerned that I was too thin, and I was anxious about my body being big then, too. It’s scary, to have survived (like most people) heartbreak, grief, and betrayal in life, but believe that weight gain is the thing that cannot be overcome. Luckily I was wrong, and I have had the happiest few weeks of my life, particularly now in Italy as I eat pasta and drink wine and lounge on the beach among ladies of every age and body type, unabashedly wearing wee bikinis. I even wrote a list about it. by @bontempo__

Not to be all ~ wanderlust ~ but just had the best and nicest time of my entire existence. Luckily I have confirmed I am not actually an uptight ass as a trait, and I can be fun and chill again when the environment allows. taken in Sífnos by @bontempo__

On holiday by myself and kind of having the happiest week of my life, though I may not feel so elated when I finish the second book in the “Ninth House” series, as I am hooked and the third doesn’t come out until mid-September; patience is a virtue I do not possess.
