There are like 10 books missing in between but I read this wonderfully thrilling disaster novel at the beginning of August and I can't stop thinking about it. I guess disaster novels are now a genre I'll be chasing for the next few reads since I can't get enough.

Thank you to the author and @valentine_pr_ for the e-arc.

I absolutely ADORED this book! I ate it up the same way Cameron ate up those gluten free brownies. Not only were the characters so well written and relatable but their chemistry is insane and has you grabbing at the next page. Our beloved baker Kennedy is a fun, sassy, takes no crap gal who loves being your biggest fan, and Cameron is your quiet, smart, and thoughtful giant who is a sap on the inside but a rock on the outside. I loved their story both so much and has me wanting more hockey romance STAT. I am so excited for Carly's next book in this series already and I think this book falls in my top 3 favorite hockey romances of all time (SO GO READ IT!)

Absolutely DEVOURED this read! I highly enjoy a romance where the main plot is character development and the romance isn't face on. I loved the concept of the magical apartment and how the characters meet and remeet. I appreciated the lack of cringey smut scenes and instead replaced with quick insinuations. The book very LOOSELY reminded me of the film The Menu where a Chef goes back to his roots. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality fun romance.

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

3.75 ⭐️

I'm not entirely sure about the reality vs nonreality plot of this book and how the time skips work, but I did enjoy this book for what it was: a love letter to female friendships, your #1 girl bestie, choosing yourself over a non-fulfilling relationship you forced yourself into believing was right for you or what you wanted.
While Dannie and I are pretty opposite in mentality, her devotion to friends mimics my own. Everyone needs a Bella in their life and even though she can be sometimes a bit out-of-bounce, this book helped me understand why Bellad are the way they are, and maybe why I'm more of a Dannie than I thought 👀

👑🎾 Carrie Soto Is Back by @tjenkinsreid

Y'all this is the one. This is my 6 star read of 2026, who knew she'd be crowned so early? This book is absolutely everything to me. I read it while watching the Australian Open to get in the spirit and it so elevated the experience. As a tennis addict and player since 5 yrs old, college tennis player, and coming from a tennis crazed family, this books describes exactly what I thought each time I stepped on the court during competition, even though I was just a mere D3 athlete 😆 i loved Carrie, I loved seeing her grow in the book, and how much fire and fight she puts into her game. Also her little shoe wiping ritual? We all have one of those haha mine was always hitting the net with my frame 3x. I wish i could read this for the first time again.

Book club theme: a classic - READ BANNED BOOKS!

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
5⭐️

This book is so so important to read right now!!!
Written in 1984/85, Atwood creates a reality where the government "collapses", a militia takes over, women are no longer allowed to have jobs or money, and slowly become properties of the Christian Nationalistic Republic of Gilead by filling roles such as Handmaids (aka incubators) for Commanders and Marthas who clean and cook. Their roles are to be invisible, serve their State, and forget their regular past by belonging to new commanders. We follow Offred (of Fred) who desperately craves a touch of the past as she faces the reality of what her role is and her deisre to escape. I absolutely devoured this. There are so many parallels in this book - some are very uncanny and spot on. As a dystopian enthusiast, despite the hard topic of the book, I was drawn in from page 1. The author's writing draws you in and keeps you begging for women's rights and freedom.

🔪🦹‍♀️ Vicious and Vengeful by @veschwab

5⭐️, 4.5⭐️

Why on EARTH did I wait so long to read this duology?!? This was so far up my alley and I had an amazing time reading these two books in 2025. I did enjoy Vicious more than Vengeful but both of these are absolute knockouts. If you like superpowers mixed with academia and crime, this is your sign to take the shot!

I am also so excited that there will be a third book coming along in the future.

First book club read of the year!

First of all, thank you so much Haley for signing our books! That was a real treat!
Our book club changed up the pace and opted for a sapphic friends to lovers romance. I think both characters were pretty relateable and the friendship was almost a bigger plot than the romance in eyes but I really enjoyed that! I appreciated all of the flashbacks and Gianna's relationship with her Mummo. While I do not read much lgbtq+ romances, this was a fun change in my regular picks

❄️🔮🌙Happy to finally start my reading journal journey! My goal through journaling my reads is to hopefully read more, figure out what my niche is, challenge myself into reading more genres, and hopefully make a HUGE dent in my physical tbr. Got inspired by a lot of creators here to finally bite the challenge!

Also, small mousepad, journal, notepad, coaster, and pen are from @unicorn.eclipse and fit my entire desk setup like a dream 🌙 i love this notebook for this purpose because it's uniquely me :)

🐈📚 The Cat Who Saved Books by Sosuke Natsukawa

5⭐️

One of the last books I picked up for 2025 but one of the most memorable! Something about cozy Japanese fiction usually featuring a cat or two makes reading for me both an enjoyable magical world plus a good moral lesson/philosophical venture. I loved this book because it really spoke to me about how grief can make you feel and what it takes to get out of the dark place and either continue a legacy or start one for yourself.

4⭐️ - rating subject to change when I read more Agatha Christie

I love a good who-done-it and Agatha is surely the queen of those! Our December book club picked this as your enf of year book and it was a fun, easy to follow, christmas special. I am excited to read some of her more notable books.
