The lashes are only one part of my day 😂

I’m also a mom, a wife, and a person who would like to sit down for a minute.

Some days I feel like I’m finding my rhythm. Other days I’m switching roles all day and figuring it out as I go.

I love what I do. I also want room to enjoy the life outside of it.

Pretty sets are the goal. But there’s a lot I want you to understand before we get there.

While training a new lash artist, I’m starting with the things she’ll use with every single client: isolation, classic application, mapping, paying attention to retention, and making someone feel comfortable in her chair.

I want her to know why she’s doing something—and what to look at when it isn’t working.

The speed can come later. Right now, we’re giving her something solid to build on.

The most expensive lash training is the one you have to take twice because the first one didn’t actually prepare you. 😭
Before you pay for a class, don’t just look at the kit, the certificate, or how pretty the instructor’s work is.
Ask yourself: Will I actually know what to do when I’m sitting in front of a real client?
Because learning lashes isn’t just about copying what your trainer does.
You need hands-on practice, real feedback, troubleshooting skills, and most importantly, an understanding of why you’re doing what you’re doing.
Because the goal shouldn’t be to leave class with a certificate and still feel lost.
It should be to leave thinking, “Okay
I actually understand this. Now I just need to practice.”
Save this before you invest in your first—or next—lash training. đŸ€Ž by @book.thelashmuse

The studio really is my second home at this point đŸ˜‚đŸ€Ž
But honestly, that’s exactly how I wanted it to feel—not just for me, but for every woman who sits in my chair.

Come in, get comfortable, put your phone down, take your lash nap, and leave feeling like yourself
just a little more put together. ✹

That’s home to me. That’s The Lash Muse Studio. đŸ€Ž

I realized I was asking for more clients, more money, more products, more team... while some of what I already had still needed my attention.

So I stopped treating growth like “add more.”

Sometimes growth looks like:
fixing the system
taking better care of the clients already here
using the supplies you already bought
getting consistent with what already works
making the business easier to run before making it bigger

I still want more. I’m just more interested in being able to hold it when it comes.

One question I’ve been asking myself lately:

If what I have doubled tomorrow, would it grow me or break me? by @book.thelashmuse

Here’s what I actually spent to get started - and yes, some of it I bought twice because I tried to save money the first time 😂

Training: $650
Licensing / requirements: $15,000
Bed or chair setup: $200
Light: $185
Tweezers + tools: $300
Lashes + adhesive + disposables: $300
Booking / website / software: free in the beginning

TOTAL: $16,635 💾

This is what MY start looked like at the time, not a rule for what every beginner has to spend. Requirements and costs vary depending on where you live and how lean you start.

You can absolutely start simple. But buying the cheapest version of everything can get expensive when you replace it two weeks later.

It’s easy to feel behind when you’re constantly watching what everybody else is doing.

Somebody’s fully booked. Somebody’s teaching another sold-out class. Somebody just opened their studio.

And now you’re questioning your own progress when five minutes ago you felt good about it 😅

I’ve had to learn to come back to what I actually want. My goals, my family, and what I have the capacity for in this season.

I want to grow, but I also want to enjoy the life I’m working so hard to build.

Whether you’re still thinking about learning lashes or already building your business, give yourself room to be where you are while working toward what’s next.

Doing my part to retire the mascara đŸ˜‚đŸ€

But behind every pretty set are so many little decisions. What length can her natural lashes support? What shape fits her eyes? Why did one client’s lashes last longer than another’s?

That’s the part I love teaching. Those little details start to click, and you finally understand WHY you’re doing what you’re doing.

Lash artists, what was the one thing you thought would be easy until you actually tried it? đŸ˜‚đŸ‘‡đŸœ by @book.thelashmuse

They’re usually the ones who can tolerate being bad at something long enough to get better.

Nobody feels cute when:
- the set takes 4 hours
- the fans keep closing
- your isolation is slow
- your pictures don’t look like what you saved on Pinterest
- 200 people watched the Reel you spent an hour making

That part is boring. And sometimes embarrassing 😂

But skill is built in those reps.

You don’t need to wake up motivated every day. You need a way to keep showing up long enough for your hands, eyes, and confidence to catch up.

If you’re in the awkward beginner stage right now, keep going. This is the stage that’s building you.

Something I wish I understood sooner as a lash artist: you don’t have to be everybody’s lash girl.

I used to worry about missing out on clients. Now I’m more intentional about who I’m trying to attract and the kind of experience I want to provide.

For me, that means clients who value my time, trust my guidance, and care about the health of their lashes. And I have to give that same energy back through how I communicate, how I work, and how I respect their time.

If you’re building your clientele, start here: what do you want clients to value about you beyond a pretty set?

Let that show up in your content and in their appointments. Give people a reason to choose YOU. đŸ€Ž by @book.thelashmuse

If I had to get my first paying lash client again, I wouldn’t start by trying to go viral. I’d start one degree away from me.

Ask the people who already know you: who do THEY know that wears lashes, wants lashes, or is willing to be a model?

Your cousin’s coworker.
Your friend’s sister.
Your mom’s friend.
The girl your model brings with her.

Your first clients don’t need to come from strangers on the internet. They can come from trust you borrow while you’re building your own reputation.

Do good work. Take good photos. Ask for honest feedback. Get the referral.

You don’t need a big following to get started. You need one yes and work good enough for that person to talk about.

I used to say yes because I was scared saying no meant I was missing my chance.

A client time I didn’t really want.
An idea that sounded profitable.
Another thing to add to my plate.

Now I ask myself: does this fit the life and business I’m actually trying to build?

Not: could this make money?
Not: would other people think this is smart?
Not: am I scared somebody else will do it first?

If it pulls me further from my time, family, peace, or the direction I’m trying to take the business, it’s probably a no. Even when it’s a good opportunity.

That one question has saved me from a lot of unnecessary detours.
