all about my novel ☀️🐝
—-> swipe to read the synopsis, peep the mood board + some art!

a week ago, i completed the seventh draft of my YA coming of age novel, THIS JUNE. I started writing this story when I was sixteen. now that I’m almost 22, I’m getting ready to go through the long, arduous process that is querying/submission. this means putting the story out into the world and hoping people will love it as much as I do :,)

I love the idea that books are a time capsule for the time during which the author wrote it. this june has seen me through some good and dark times, been a place for me to put my saddest feelings, as well as the memories I never want to forget. the terror of growing up lives within these pages, but I hope also the promise of landing where you need to be (not that I have yet haha). if you love bisexual disasters and rainy beaches, this one is for you 🫵

be sure to check out @quinton.or.sumn ! they made the art featured in this post ^-^

also I’m well aware that finishing a novel or even landing an agent doesn’t guarantee publication, but I’m honestly glad I fulfilled sixteen year old me’s wish of even doing this story justice 😭

how I rate my books☝️😏

I’ve really been trying to use a solid system for rating lately and keeping track of what I like to read! This is mainly the system I use—it’s pretty much based on how well I engaged with the book! I do often go back and change my rating of books, as I did with some listed here🙂‍↕️

september review 🎃✨🍂📖

very happy about my reading choices as of late! i am proud to say i can fit basically my entire autumn tbr in a ramen takeout bag!

I’m working on a new plan/rewrite for my horror/speculative fiction (who really knows what it is) novel, and im really excited to be working on it! i decided what i need is a reset with this story, which is basically what i had to do a few years ago with my previously completed young adult novel. crazy how the solution can be in your head already and you just have to remember you’ve gotten through the rut before! (Writing has sucked lately)

I’m really excited for this fall and i have a great feeling about it creativity-wise! I hope to get a lot done and remember making stuff is supposed to be fun (:

reading of monsters and mainframes/the second death of locke 📖📚

drinking pumpkin caramel coffee ☕️

watching the haunting of hill house 🏠 👻

writing bits of my horror novel, though progress is really slow and I’m trying not to let that make me too sad because at the end of the day im just a girl trying to work and get her degree and love

Im going to the strand bookstore very soon and im so excited! It will be my first time so you can expect a post allllll about it☝️🙂‍↕️☝️

making my Halloween costume (it’s not even started yet) 🎃 + working on getting another tattoo this season!!

what are you reading this fall or if you follow me and don’t read what are you doing with your life ☝️

ending of august 🪲☀️

I have been pretty absent from posting as of late, but it’s really helped me get back into reading! I’ve been reading lots of fantasy which is the headspace I belong in rn 🙂‍↕️

I stared a new job this summer which has been so great for my mental health (and I’m working with my best friend now!!)

I finished another read-through of my young adult contemporary novel and began working on my horror book again! I feel this will be very fitting for the season coming up🍂🍃🍃 I feel like I haven’t quite figured out this story yet but I’m getting there in this draft!

right now I’m mainly reading on my kindle—currently reading field guide for the formerly villainous! it’s been the perfect slow and sweet read to end the summer with. highly recommend if you love stardew valley or animal crossing!

I hope you had a great summer!!! I know it’s not technically over buuut spirit halloween is already open and I’m drinking various shades of pumpkin coffee already soooo

yeah (:

I’ll hopefully be able to post more! I miss making posts about books. I’m starting my library science degree this week (first time back to school since my associate’s degree in 2023) happy to finally feel bundled up with all the things I love!

june 🍄🌻🍄‍🟫

very happy with all the books and documentaries I watched this month! I am in a great reading place right now (not such a great writing place). for some reason I’ve been enjoying crime docs and pods. I don’t know where that came from but learning about murder is better than being chronically online ig

my favorite book I read this month was phoebe berman’s gonna lose it! I loved this far more than I thought I would. It was a romance story without a lot of romance, and honestly I appreciated Phoebe’s journey to loving herself and being comfortable with herself far more than I enjoyed any sort of man she made a move on in the book. has potential to be my favorite book of the year!!

what’s in my bag :^)

I got a baggu this year and she’s my favorite thing because she holds all my favorite things! I’ve loved seeing so many people do what’s in my bag posts lately and was inspired by @bookselenareads to do mine ✨

we don’t have to talk about how many lip products i carry on my person at any given time.. or how scuffed up my critters are..

I love my bag!
