she wrote it, we read it. forever 🤍
marjane satrapi passed away in june 2026 at 56. she gave us persepolis, a childhood in revolutionary iran told with so much humour and heart that readers all over the world saw themselves in it. embroideries, chicken with plums, woman life freedom: her work was about freedom, about women, and about telling the truth in black and white.

if you haven't read her yet, today is a good day to start. and if you have, swipe through and tell me which one stayed with you 📖

there's something about our own myths that no retelling ever exhausts - Amrit Kalash is proof.

Divya Narain Upadhyaya gathers seven tales from across the Mahabharata, Shiva Purana and Bhagavata Purana and tells them with real pace and drama. the churning of the ocean, Bhishma bound by his impossible promise, Arjuna hidden inside Brihannala, Vishnu arriving as Varaha, Narasimha and Vamana - it's a lot of ground for a 256-page book, and the variety is the fun of it.

what caught me off guard was how much the Shiva–Shakti chapters moved me. Shakti isn't a figure standing behind anyone here; her strength and presence carry those pages, and the feeling underneath them lingered after i'd closed the book. those were easily my favourites.

if you grew up on these stories, or you just like seeing a familiar epic turned a few degrees so it looks new again, this is an easy, rewarding read.
for anyone who never tires of coming home to the epics. 🏹

what I read vs. what I imagine while reading 📖💭

On paper, it's a short book about a little boy from a faraway asteroid. In my head, it's a glittering universe with sunsets on repeat, a fox who teaches patience, and a rose worth every bit of care. This diamond painting is an attempt to capture that feeling. Every sparkle is a page I loved. 🦊🌙

Tell me, which book has painted the most vivid picture in your mind?

the book equivalent of a warm cup of tea ☕📚

five strangers in tokyo, all stuck in their own way - a bored shop assistant, a restless accountant, a sidelined new mom, a directionless artist, a freshly retired man who doesn't know who he is anymore.
they all end up at the same tiny library, in front of the same quietly magical librarian, ms. komachi. she asks one question — 'what are you looking for?' — and hands them a book that seems completely wrong for them.
it never is.

this isn't a book that shakes you. it's one that holds you gently and reminds you that it's never too late to take one small step toward the life you actually want.
if you've ever needed a reminder that you're not as stuck as you feel — this is your sign 🌿

two years ago today, a few of my poems found their way into print 🌈
"end of the rainbow" still lives in these pages, and today i finally gave it the glow-up it deserved. bedazzled the rainbow, one tiny sparkle at a time ✨

seeing your words in a real book never stops feeling unreal. thank you to everyone who read it, shared it, or sent me a photo of that page. it meant more than you know.

if you've ever written something and kept it to yourself, this is your sign to send it out 💌
save this for the day you need a nudge to share your words.

adulthood really is one long extempore. no script, no rehearsal, no one telling you the topic in advance 🫠
bills, heartbreaks, awkward family dinners, career pivots, that one email you've been avoiding for three days... we're all just winging it on stage.

but here's the thing. every book you read is a little prep. someone else's life, lived on paper, so you're not walking in completely blank the next time life hands you the mic 📚

so read books. stay prepared. 🤍

what's one book that prepped you for something real? tell me below 👇

the wrong way home by shunali khullar shroff 📖

nayan is a mumbai PR pro who built her whole image around having it together. then her filmmaker ex, jay sarabhai, remarries someone younger and more "instagrammable" and nayan's entire carefully curated life cracks open in public.

what i loved: this isn't a "heal in 200 pages" book. nayan doesn't get her together overnight - she keeps checking her ex's wife's instagram, keeps comparing, keeps making the wrong calls before she makes the right ones. it's messy in a way that actually feels honest.

rishi (her best friend) is doing the quiet grounding-force thing the whole book, and shroff's writing stays witty even when the subject matter isn't - that "equal parts satire and heart" line on the cover is not lying.

if you've ever rebuilt yourself after a relationship ended in public (or even just semi-publicly, group chat edition), this one's going to sit with you.

📚 for fans of: divorced-woman-finds-herself arcs, mumbai elite social satire, books that let women be a little unlikeable before they're okay

"black swan" is about the exact fear every creative person carries - what if I stop feeling it? that could be the death of an artist.

these five books live in that same terror: passion fading, art and identity blurring, the numbness that creeps in when something you loved stops moving you.

save this one for the days when you feel creatively stuck 🕯️📖
