Can I tag you? 🏷️

I don't generally tag people in my posts as I've never really thought about it. I normally tag people if I have a specific purpose e.g. tagging the person who recommended a book to me or tagged me in a challenge, but that's about it. But I tagged a few people in a recent post and the response was amazing! So I just wanted to get permission from people before I go around tagging people in future posts. On the flip side, if you don't want me to tag you or I'm tagging you too much, please let me know!

(Un)Shelfie Sunday 📚📚

So, today I thought I would do a relatively simple post because I have come down with a really crappy cold 🤒🤧

Rather than doing a shelfie, I thought I would do an unshelfie - all the books I haven't put on my shelves yet. It could be for various reasons like I've just finished reading it, I use it for a post, or it just arrived as bookmail! 💌

💬 QOTD: What was the last book you bought or the last piece of bookmail you received?

Two for Tuesday - Botanical Horror 🌳🌹

For this week's two for Tuesday, I thought I would pick two reads perfect for the spooky season featuring creepy plants. And it's a double two for Tuesday as both of these books are written by one of my favourite authors, T. Kingfisher!

The Twisted Ones features impossible terrors in the woods whilst A House with Good Bones has a rather eerie rose garden. Both books have older FMCs as the protagonist as well which I absolutely love!

Barnes & Noble Book Haul 📚🍄🗡️

I have successfully made it back from my trip to the USA! I'm absolutely knackered and I have no time to rest as this is one of my busiest weeks at work. But I had a great time, learnt a lot and I've come back with a little haul from Barnes & Noble!

This is everything I bought whilst I was there. I could have purchased so much more but I had really limited space in my carry on I couldn't fit in any more than this!

Keep swiping to see each of the items in my haul!

💬 QOTD: If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?

A Tangled Magic by Andrea Eanes 🐦‍⬛

Look at the sprayed edges on this one! I love the birds and patterns! It's so pretty 😍

#atangledmagic #andreaeames

Field Guide for the Formerly Villainous by Autumn K. England 🍄

I absolutely love mushrooms so when I saw this sprayed edge, I knew that I had to pick this one up. Plus, this book sounds so good, I can't wait to read it!

#fieldguidefortheformerlyvillainous #autumnkengland

Between Tides and Thunder by Leena Kazak 🌊

I have heard good things about this book, but I've never seen it in Waterstones so I thought I would pick this up as well because I love a good standalone!

Leaving Reality Entering Fantasy Tote Bag

You can never have too many tote bags in my opinion and why get a boring back to carry my books in when I could get this gorgeous bag?

#leavingrealityenteringfantasy #bookishtote #bookishtotebag

Dungeon Crawler Carl Stationary Set ❤️

I love this little set! Originally I thought it was one notebook but there are actually two, with one saying "You will not break me". I also love the magnetic bookmarks, they are so good!

#dungeoncrawlercarl #mattdinniman #youwillnotbreakme #thedungeonanarchistscookbook

Throne of Glass Pins 🗡️

And to round off the haul, these cool Throne of Glass puns that I've not seen before. I use pin backs with magnets so I can add them to my metal TBR trolley!

Goodbye September 🎒 Hello October 🍂

I have no idea whether it is October 1st or not! It is where I currently am but back home, it's now October 2nd.

Anyway, here is my September reading wrap up. September is always crazy busy for me because of the start of the academic year and then being away on a business trip so I'm really happy I managed to read eight books, but a little disappointed that I didn't get to any of my dark academia books I was saving!

I did manage to read some of my most anticipated reads of the year, so that is always a bonus!

All the things I would Barnes & Noble if money/suitcase space was no object! 📚📚📚

So I am away on a business trip in the US and we do not have Barnes & Noble in the UK so I knew I would have to find time to go whilst I was away.

Problem is, there are so many gorgeous sprayed edges and so many awesome editions and bookish items that we just don't get in the UK, that I would need to be a millionaire with my own private jet to get everything I wanted home.

Here is just a random selection of things that I would have loved to have bought.... But didn't. I will do a separate post about what I did buy soon.

💬 QOTD: Is there an edition of a book you love that you can't get where you live?

P.S. I have absolutely no idea what time you are seeing this post. This is about my usual posting time when I'm home, but it's currently almost 3am there so who knows! by @bookdragon891

Hello Monday! ❤️‍🔥🐦‍🔥

Have you ever read a book where you kind of get stuck in the middle because you know it's going to get so much worse before it gets better? 🙋🏻‍♀️

That's how I currently feel about Burn of the Everflame. I'm 50% in and I've been stuck for a week. I have read two other books and I'm still stuck! But I'm picking it up now and I'm hoping (third time's the charm!) to finish it by the end of the week.

Turncloak Two for Tuesday 🩸🪄🌕🐺

Happy release day to Turncloak, the second book in the Silvercloak Saga! I wasn't sure it would turn up today, so when I got home to a parcel, I was so happy! 💌

For my two for Tuesday this week, I thought I would do Silvercloak and Turncloak by @laurasteven. I love the sprayed edges on them both, but there is something about the purple and the flowers on Turncloak that I love a little bit more.

Silvercloak was one of my favourite reads from last year. If you haven't read it yet (and why not??), the series has:

🪄 wands and cloaks and ancient prophecies
🩸 a dark and twisty romance (and a fledging sapphic pairing)
🌙 police procedural & courtroom drama but fantasy
🐉 arcane animal companions & rich worldbuilding details
⏳ a shadowy order of Timeweavers who can unmake the world
🏳️‍🌈 queernorm world & inclusive rep

I would absolutely recommend this series!

How is it Monday again already?

It doesn't feel like five minutes since it was Friday. Hope everyone is doing okay. Students have officially started now so I'm back to being busy. This week for me is a tale of two parts as I'm excited for my birthday but nervous for my assessment on Friday.

So what better way to celebrate/reduce stress than to buy a new book! I picked up this gorgeous edition of Grim Tidings today from The Works to go with my copy of Good Spirits that I got last year. I am really looking forward to reading Grim Tidings as Good Spirits was one of my favourite seasonal reads from last year!

Friday Flatlay - Blue and Orange 💙🧡

Happy Friday everyone! We have successfully made it through another week! This week has been pretty stressful for me (which is why I haven't been around as much). I was preparing for an assessment as part of my PhD which ended up being postponed so now I will have to stress about it again in the future.

But it's the weekend now and it's my birthday next week so, I'm putting that aside for a bit and I'm hoping to get Burn of the Everflame finished by the end of Sunday. I'm 40% in so wish me luck!

Today's flatlay is inspired by my birthstone of sapphire and one of my favourite colours, orange, which is a perfect colour of autumn. I love the combination together 💙🧡

I've tagged a few people in case you want to do a similar flatlay but no pressure 😊

💬 QOTD: What is the longest book you've read in a single day?

Two for Tuesday - New Releases Edition 🔥🍂

Happy release day for both Burn of the Everflame by @authorpenncole and Twig's Traveling Tomes by @gryffinmurphywritesbooks

I was fortunate enough to read Twig's Traveling Tomes as an ARC and absolutely loved it. It has everything I want in a cosy fantasy romance: endearing, relatable and quirky characters, a good plot with the right level of stakes, and an adorable romance with a swoon-worthy MMC. It is the perfect type of read for the autumn or for when you've experienced significant emotional damage (I'm looking at you Penn Cole! 😭😂)

Burn Of the Everflame is the final book in The Kindred's Curse Saga. Having read the first three I know I am going to be absolutely emotionally destroyed by this book. Despite knowing that I'm most likely going to have my heart broken, I am so excited to see how the series ends. Luckily I have some cozy fantasy reads waiting for me when I am done.

💬 QOTD: How do you get over a book/series that has emotionally destroyed you?
