Me and my books against the world. Hang on sparklefarts this way lies chaos. | 📍 MD-based reader

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This space has always been and will be about books. But guess what? The act of reading is political. The ability to learn and expand our knowledge and empathy is political. Reading queer books and books written by women and people of color IS POLITICAL.

So if you think politics don’t belong on bookstagram, you can fuck right off.

We’re mad. We’re grieving. And we’re scared.

Yes there are very real threats from our government that are barreling towards us now. But we’re also surrounded by half a population who would rather see our freedoms striped away if it means the hope that their selfish needs are met (spoiler alert: they won’t be but congrats on being just that stupid to buy into the lies).

But we now have to wonder who in our families, our workplaces, next to us in line at the grocery store cares so little about the safety and protections of their neighbors that they would vote in favor of hatred, bigotry, and bullying.

So this space will remain about books yes, but know this:

This space is also a daily protest.

I am actually quite successful reading while watching the game. Where I’m not successful is not taking a nap. 😴

Six years ago I made this silly little account. Five years ago I started talking to @little_book_reader_ and connected on all our fangirl obsessions. Three years ago we made a pact that when @harrystyles tour again we would be there together.

This week that promise came true and I’m still riding that high.

What do you mean it’s a gorgeous non-humid morning and I have to WORK instead of sitting poolside with my current read?! 😭😭😭

Had the best time at @hauntthereaders meeting so many exceptional authors and discovering new reads for my TBR. Got to finally meet the horror genius @marcus_kliewer and snagged Fantasicland by @mikebockoven which I can’t wait to dive into. Also snagged this sick shirt. Met some new reader friends and some fellow bookstagrammers. All in all a great day! Hoping for a year two in 2027!!

Bookclub is reading East of Eden for our September pick… figured if I start now I’ll finish in time. 🤣

Do you read classics? Actually is this a classic? I’m gonna say it is

Had the absolute best day in Philly with @veggiekittykelly_reads exploring bookstores, having delish vegan at a new-to-us restaurant, and being reminded that every little thing is gonna be alright by Jimmy Eat World on the most perfect summer evening at the Mann Center.
