About the Author:
Beth Ann Hooper is an award-winning poet, writer and movie producer. Her debut novel The Roots That Clutch was named the 2024 Winner Book Cover Design and Distinguished Favorite World Literature by the Independent Press Award and the 2025 NYC Big Book Award. She is also the producer of the award-winning short film The Roots That Clutch which is based on the novel. A bilingual author, she is also the author of Lot, the Dutch version of The Roots That Clutch.
She is also the associate producer of the internationally-acclaimed Dutch documentary In the Interest of the Child and the upcoming Dutch documentary Airplane Child.
Haunting the Dead is her first poetry collection to be released. Haunting the Dead and Poetry in Motion Picture mark the second time she has combined poetry and film. The project was recently featured in the cultural magazine The Tonearm which interviewed her at Bookery.

About the Book:
Raw and visceral, Haunting the Dead, from award-winning writer, poet and filmmaker Beth Ann Hooper, explores the heart-wrenching themes of love and loss, home and exile, motherhood and childhood, grief and joy.
Together with its sister project, the short film Poetry in Motion Picture, both works test and expand the boundaries of poetry, film and music in new and refreshing ways.

About the Film:
Poetry in Motion Picture combines poetry from Haunting the Dead with film and an original musical score specially composed for the film that creates a cinematic experience of poetry.
The film can be seen on the film festival circuit throughout 2026 and 2027. You can find more info here! by @bookerymht
