For the last couple of years, I’ve been behind the scenes of @skyhighforkids so being invited to experience this day from the other side felt incredibly special.

There’s something about witnessing what happens when women with influence choose to use it for something greater than just themselves and I really am just in awe.

No, seriously. I’m still taking it all in.

@doctor.dooley @smiletexas_houston thank you for inviting me to experience this Ralph Lauren inspired day with you. Your generosity, your heart and the way you continually pour into the people around you doesn’t go unnoticed.

And as for the Sky High team?
A well deserved round of applause!!!

Some memories are beautiful. Some memories stay with you. This was definitely the latter… by @bookingwithchar

“Will my hair last through my event?”
— clients all the time.

Styled her at noon. The setting: rain, humidity, the whole Houston special. Her agenda: Set up for her shower.

7pm, 7 hours later at her actual event….

Two things;
Milbon No.4 Texturizing Spray
Milbon No.7 Flexible Hold Hairspray

Raked my fingers through her curls and as fresh as it was when she left my chair. Now we have hair that’s not only going to last all day, but through the rest of the night!

Travel sizes so good, you can have good hair anywhere!

Vulnerable post…

I used to pray for days like this.
This life.

Traveling. Teaching. Creating. Inspiring. Making a difference. Seeing the world while doing something I genuinely love.

And don’t get me wrong, I am deeply grateful. But gratitude doesn’t mean it’s always easy.

This life comes with its own kind of sacrifice. Being away from the comfort of home. Missing my little boy Blaze. Missing birthdays, dinners, celebrations and moments with the people I love. Living out of a suitcase. Spending weekends alone in hotel rooms in places I’ve never been. Flying constantly and feeling it on your body.

And then coming home and realizing you don’t even have the energy to fully live your “normal” life because all you want to do is rest.

There’s also the financial side. Education is a passion for me, but passion doesn’t always pay the way a full book behind the chair does. Choosing to teach, pour into others and build something bigger has meant making sacrifices of my own.

But there have been so many blessings on the other side of those sacrifices.

I’ve been able to step away from the chair a little more, which means giving my body a break from a physically demanding career. I’ve met incredible people. I’ve walked into rooms I once only dreamed of being in. I’ve been able to share what I know and hopefully leave people a little more inspired than when I found them.

I think sometimes we romanticize chasing a dream without talking about what it actually costs.

The truth is, nothing in life is easy. Every version of the life you want will ask something of you.

So I’m learning to hold everything at once.

The gratitude and the exhaustion.
The excitement and the sacrifice.
The dream and the reality of what it takes to build it.

Because I prayed for this life.

And even on the hard days, I never want to forget that I’m living an answered prayer. by @bookingwithchar
