Title: Plant Lady
Author: Mingyoung Kang
Genre: Feminist lit crossed with cosy horror?!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Synopsis: A lady in Korea runs an instagramable Plant Shop, whilst unsavoury men in the area are starting to dissappear...........

Thoughts: Wow, a gripping book. I was vague with the genre because there is not a lot of graphic horror (although there is some), it was more about the protagonist and her processing of past trauma. It's a brilliant idea, really well executed. Her anguish is very real, but her coping mechanism is to be cold and calculated and it all works so well.

The plant shop is definitely somewhere I'd like the visit. There is real attention to detail and, as a plant lover myself, I loved reading about the plants and how to care for them.

I cannot help but champion a woman intent on punishing horrible men who have treated women badly. Yoohee is a fantastic protagonist and I loved her.

Today is my day on the blog tour for The Woman Who Wasn't There by William Hussey - thanks to Tracey at Compulsive Reads for organising.

I'm a huge William Hussey fan, his Jericho series is addictive, so I was delighted to be picked for this tour. Please note, this is a standalone, not part of the series.

It is a brilliantly crafted thriller, with a great mix of characters, some wonderful scene setting and lots of twists and turns. I can't say too much about the plot for fear of spoiling, but trust me when I say there are some real jaw dropping momemts throughout the book.

I was hooked from the first few pages and the ending? Wow, I was not expecting that.

If you like you like your thrillers to keep you guessing, this is a must read! by @bookishsam71

Sunday.

Another weekend draws to a close. Why do they pass so quickly?

Had a great day yesterday at @lovestoriesetc It was really good to connect with other readers and listen to a wide variety of authors chat about their writing. Lots of laughs throughout the day. A brilliant event.

I am excitedly waiting to set off for this year's Love Stories Festival. Bags are packed, got my book journal for the authors to sign and a few pounds (!!!) set aside for some impulse buys.

Ad/PR Today is my day on the Make Me Famous blog tour and wow, what a ride!

Meet Cleo, a hugely successful music star, on a detox break on a deserted island in the South Pacific. She has no mobile, no other devices, not a soul on the island and no way to communicate apart from one satellite phone for emergencies. Cleo is here to reflect, recharge and write her next album with no disruptions. The story is told in flashbacks as Cleo narrates her life story from a childhood wish to be a star to the present day.

Cleo is unhinged and a narcissist, and that is just for starters. Her hunger for fame is all consuming and nothing will get in her way. Her actions taken throughout the book get worse as it moves on and there were a lot of "She did what now" moments as I was reading. 😂

If you like awful, and I mean truly awful, people in books then this is one for you. I was invested from the misleading opening chapter detailing turquoise seas and serenity and stayed on edge until the very last full stop.

Love Alice. Love Dorothy. Love Elphaba. I always think they'd have got on well together, at the right time and place.

There is something quite special about the Minalima books. These are the only two I have but I'd love to add more to my collection.
