I’ve never formally introduced myself on here, so…hi, I’m Kristen! Lawyer by day, mom around the clock, and bookstagrammer somewhere in the chaos between. I started Bookmarked & Buzzed as a creative outlet and now it’s a space where I get to talk about books with some truly wonderful people on the internet. Around here you’ll find: ☕ moody reviews 🎶 playlists for fictional breakdowns 🍸 drink pairings no one requested but I remain committed to 📚 books chosen almost entirely by how likely they are to make me romanticize my own life for 48 hours Current reading personality: ✔️ gothic everything ✔️ women on the verge ✔️ books that leave me staring at the ceiling afterward ✔️ morally gray people making catastrophic choices ✔️ “this probably could’ve been solved with therapy” When I’m not reading, I’m usually working, chasing my kids around, or adding seventeen more books to my TBR because that is a completely reasonable thing to do. Glad you’re here 🤍 by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
📖 TRY TO KEEP UP - Shay Knudsen 📌 VIBE CHECK: 🪞 waking up and not quite knowing which version of you woke up ✏️ creepy charcoal drawings you definitely don’t remember making 📓 someone else’s handwriting in your own diary 🌒 wait…is this paranormal or am I losing it too? 🌊 a missing boy and water you absolutely do not want to look beneath There’s an eerie, off-kilter feeling running through Try to Keep Up, where memories shift, identities blur, and you’re never completely sure you understand what’s happening. The diary entries and charcoal sketches only make that feeling stranger, leaving little pieces of the story scattered outside the narrative itself. Beneath the mystery is a fascinating exploration of dissociative identity disorder, childhood trauma, and a mind trying to make sense of things it was never equipped to carry. And every so often, the story gets just strange enough to make you wonder if there might be something else lurking around the edges. I spent a not-insignificant amount of time wondering whether we needed a therapist or an exorcist. 📚 READ IF YOU LOVE: ✔️ unreliable narrators ✔️ childhood secrets that refuse to stay buried ✔️ stories where memory is part of the mystery ✔️ psychological suspense with an eerie edge ✔️ trying to solve the twist before the book gets there A huge thank you to Shay Knudsen for inviting me to be part of her ARC team and trusting me with an early copy. 🖤 ✨ TRY TO KEEP UP IS AVAILABLE NOW! ✨ #TryToKeepUp #ShayKnudsen #PsychologicalThriller #DebutAuthor #BookmarkedAndBuzzed by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
the secret to reading a lot is not having more time. it’s using the time you already have. two hour commute. a nursing baby. thirty minutes before bed. the kindle app everywhere else. this is what reading looks like in this season of my life and I wouldn’t change it. how do you fit books into your day? #ReadingLife #BookstagramReads #AudiobooksCount #BookmarkedandBuzzed by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
🎂 thirty four. mid thirties. apparently. best book of my thirty third year, what I’m dreaming about for thirty four, and a little love note to everyone who showed up here. #Birthday #BookstagramReads #ReadingCommunity #BookmarkedandBuzzed by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
300 books on my TBR and zero ability to pick just one genre. this is who I am and I’ve made peace with it. what are you reading this month? #BookstagramReads #TBR #MoodyReads #BookmarkedandBuzzed by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
the ARC pile has a personality and it is not patient. eight books, one very determined reader, and a personal TBR that will just have to wait its turn. reviews are coming. i promise. are you an ARC reader? tell me below! #NetGalley #ARCReview #BookstagramReads #BookmarkedandBuzzed by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
📖 Yesteryear — Caro Claire Burke 📍 Vibe Check: 🔥 satire with teeth 🌑 something is wrong but you can’t name it yet 📱 when the algorithm can’t save you 👐 blisters where the manicure used to be 🎭 laugh now, dread later Razor-sharp, darkly funny, and deeply unsettling. Yesteryear is a novel that lures you in with satire and then pulls the floor out from under you. It asks what happens when the life you’ve so carefully curated becomes the cage you can’t escape…and whether the woman inside it ever really existed at all. ✨ “My name was Natalie Heller Mills, and I was perfect at being alive.” — Caro Claire Burke, Yesteryear 📚 Read if you love: ✔️ Satire that’s also genuinely scary ✔️ Time-slip mysteries where you can’t trust the narrator ✔️ Books that interrogate the performance of femininity ✔️ Debut novels that feel like a fully formed, singular vision ✔️ The Handmaid’s Tale meets The Truman Show energy #YesteryearBook #CaroClaireBurke #TradwifeSatire #TimeSlipThrillers #BookmarkedAndBuzzed by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
📖 Dungeon Crawler Carl — Matt Dinniman 📍 Vibe Check ⚔️ The world ended overnight and somehow you’re the entertainment now 🐱 A princess cat who is both your greatest liability and your only hope 🎮 Stat screens, loot drops, and leveling up or dying trying 💀 Dark humor wrapped around a story that genuinely hits 📺 Survival as spectacle — and the crowd is always watching Chaotic, propulsive, and shockingly tender beneath all the carnage, Dungeon Crawler Carl is what happens when the apocalypse has a sense of humor and a studio audience. Carl didn’t ask to be humanity’s last stand. He didn’t ask for Princess Donut either. But here we are — underground, outnumbered, and somehow still making it to the next floor. Matt Dinniman writes action that moves like a freight train, but it’s the quiet moments — Carl holding Donut close, the grief underneath all the jokes — that make this one stick. It’s ridiculous. It’s brutal. It’s one of the most fun reads you’ll have all year. ✨ “Trauma does that. It’s an explosion with your heart at the center. It changes everything all at once.” — Matt Dinniman, Dungeon Crawler Carl 📚 Read if you love: ✔️ antiheroes who are just trying their best in impossible circumstances ✔️ animal companions with more personality than any human in the room ✔️ LitRPG with actual emotional depth ✔️ books that go from hilarious to heartbreaking in one paragraph ✔️ rooting hard for the guy the whole world wrote off #DungeonCrawlerCarl #BookmarkedAndBuzzed #LitRPG #Bookstagram #FantasyBooks by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
📖 Luxuria — Colette Rhodes 📍 Vibe Check 🖤 A heroine discovering the monsters might actually be the most honest ones in the room 👑 An arranged marriage to a shadow king who is…inconveniently compelling 🕯️ A shadow realm that feels far safer than the human world she left behind 🔥 Curiosity turning into tension turning into obsession 🌑 Darkness that somehow ends up feeling like home Dark, cozy, and very enthusiastic about its premise, Luxuria is one of those books that knows exactly what it is and commits fully to the bit. The shadow realm is strange and oddly welcoming, the banter is playful, and the romance leans hard into the fantasy of being wanted exactly as you are. It’s low-angst, high-chemistry monster romance where the vibes are immaculate and the spice level does not hold back. ✨ “When is a monster not a monster? Oh, when you love it.” 📚 Read if you love: ✔️ grumpy monster husbands ✔️ heroines who enthusiastically choose the monster ✔️ cozy fantasy with lots of spice ✔️ banter-heavy romantasy ✔️ arranged marriage turning unexpectedly tender #Luxuria #MonsterRomance #RomantasyReads #ColetteRhodes #BookmarkedAndBuzzed by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
📖 The Book of Cold Cases — Simone St. James 📍 Vibe Check 🗝️ Wealth and reputation wrapped around something sharp 📸 A woman who knows exactly how she’s being perceived 🧠 Curiosity that edges into fixation 🏚️ Small-town history with teeth 🫥 The discomfort of never knowing who’s telling the truth Measured, unsettling, and deliciously controlled, The Book of Cold Cases unfolds like an interview that slowly becomes an interrogation. Simone St. James builds tension with restraint, letting silence stretch and glances linger just a moment too long. Shea’s pursuit of the truth feels less like a hobby and more like a reckoning, while Beth Greer remains polished in a way that feels intentional, strategic, and possibly dangerous. The power of this story lies in perception…in who controls the narrative, who asks the questions, and who decides which answers matter. It’s a slow burn that understands the most dangerous stories are the ones we choose to believe. ✨ “Am I bitter or am I sweet? Ladies can be either.” 📚 Read if you love: ✔️ morally ambiguous women who hold their ground ✔️ interview-style narratives with psychological bite ✔️ gothic settings with a modern edge ✔️ layered female dynamics that feel like chess ✔️ stories that make you double-check the lock before bed #BookmarkedAndBuzzed #TheBookOfColdCases #SimoneStJames #PsychologicalThriller #MoodyReads by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
📖 The Heartbreak Hotel — Ellen O’Clover 📍 Vibe Check ☕ A soft, cozy refuge for people figuring out who they are after everything falls apart 🏔️ Mountain air that makes reinvention feel possible 💌 Found family formed through brief stays and shared vulnerability 🛎️ A place that holds space for grief, hope, and quiet connection 🌤️ Healing that happens slowly, without spectacle Warm, cozy, and emotionally earnest, The Heartbreak Hotel feels like booking a stay somewhere beautiful when life has knocked the wind out of you. The Comeback Inn itself is the true star, an intimate, restorative setting that practically begs you to journal on the porch and pretend you’re starting over. Ellen O’Clover excels at atmosphere and gentle human connection, weaving together a rotating cast of guests who pass through each other’s lives at just the right moment. ✨ “Maybe all healing requires is a taking of turns. Leaning on whoever has the strength in each fleeting moment.” 📚 Read if you love: ✔️ cozy settings that feel like emotional sanctuaries ✔️ found family energy and rotating casts of characters ✔️ gentle, slow-burn romance rooted in healing ✔️ stories about starting over later than planned ✔️ hopeful reads with a soft, lived-in feel #BookmarkedAndBuzzed #TheHeartbreakHotel #CozyRomance #FoundFamilyReads #BookishVibes by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
📖 Upon a Starlit Tide — Kell Woods 📍 Vibe Check 🌊 The ache of wanting a life that doesn’t quite fit the one you were given ✨ Fairytale magic that feels old, dangerous, and earned 🕯️ Desire sharpened by betrayal and impossible choices 🩰 Women navigating love, rivalry, and survival without easy villains 🌙 A story that understands longing doesn’t disappear, it transforms Lush, romantic, and quietly feral, Upon a Starlit Tide is a fairytale retelling that trusts its readers. You can feel the bones of Cinderella and The Little Mermaid beneath the story, but they’re reshaped into something darker and more dangerous. Saint-Malo is glittering and claustrophobic all at once, the sea feels alive, and the emotional payoff is devastating in the best way. This book hurt me in the best way… through betrayal, through tenderness, through love that asks for something real in return. ✨ “A woman knows her own truth. It’s a gift she is born with that, like so much else, is quickly stolen by the world… Even so, their souls always know the truth. Always. Do not be afraid to give yours voice.” 📚 Read if you love: ✔️ fairytale retellings with teeth ✔️ sea-soaked historical fantasy ✔️ romances that hurt before they heal ✔️ sea magic, betrayal, and longing ✔️ stories that trust you to sit with the ache #BookmarkedAndBuzzed #UponAStarlitTide #FairytaleRetelling #HistoricalFantasy #MoodyReads by @bookmarked.and.buzzed
