Whenever I’m back in Chicago, one of my must stops is at Jim’s Original for an all-beef polish sausage. This place has been around for 85 years. That char, that snap, the spice of the sausage, topped with mustard and onions, so delicious. I also got one of their pork chop sandwiches. Be careful as there is still bone with the pork chop. Loukoumades (Greek Donuts) are available in Downey at Louks Greek Baby Donuts.Loukoumades were my favorite treat when I visited Greece years ago and thankfully there’s a spot not too far from me that serves them. These donuts have a nice crispy texture on the outside but soft and pillowy on the inside. Plus they are served fresh so these are nice and warm when you eat them. My favorites are the classic Louks which is honey, cinnamon and walnuts, but there are a variety of other flavors. On this trip I split my order with birthday cake which is Nutella filled and topped with milk chocolate and sprinkles. It was Filipino Heritage night at Dodger Stadium and I didn’t want to miss it this year. It was so crowded and the lines were so long for the themed food items, I just got the usual ballpark eats. So I was able to find a stand selling the All Beef Super Dodger Dog. Unfortunately it still did not compare to how they were when Farmer John made them. At least the nachos and wings were good. Roast Goose Plate from Golden Roast located at Haven City West Covina.Went to Haven City for dinner and every time I stop by Golden Roast, their roast goose is always sold out. So today, when I saw there was one left, I had to order it. This was my first time trying goose. It does taste like duck but noticed there was less gamey aftertaste. The skin had a very good texture as well. It was nice and crisp. Was it good? Yes. However at $20 a plate, I might just stick with the cheaper duck plate. Japanese Fried Chicken (karaage) at Tenkatori USA. Located inside Tokyo Central Gardena.After doing some shopping inside Tokyo Central, we decided to check out their food court for some lunch. As soon as I saw pictures of karaage chicken at Tenkatori, I had to get some. I ordered the 8 piece of chicken boneless thigh. The skin was crispy and the meat was so juicy. Those 8 pieces of chicken were devoured pretty quickly. My only regret was not ordering the 12 piece. It was so good. Ube Cream Coffee from @davien.coffee Finally made it to a Da Vien to try their coffee. Felt like getting one of the signature coffees for my first visit and chose the Ube Cream Coffee. This was so good. The drink was definitely creamy and liked the ube taste. I can see why this chain has become real popular lately. Tom’s Famous Pastrami from Gold BahnI love hand carved pastrami and Gold Bahn puts it in their bahn mi sandwich. That thick cut pastrami is so juicy and tender. I ordered the one pounder and this one was loaded sandwich. The baguette does hold it together but there was so much meat, it could almost make another sandwich. I was craving some chile verde so I went to my favorite spot for it, Casa Garcia in Pico Rivera. The only problem was deciding between having them as Super Nachos or Super Fries. The solution, I bought both. Each dish is topped with chile verde meat, cheese, guacamole, beans and sour cream. The pork in the chile verde is so tender and delicious, plus the portions were very generous. I always leave Casa Garcia so stuffed. Also have to give a shout out for their tacos as those are delicious as well. This was my kids’ first trip to the movie theater. So what better place for their first experience than the Junior theater at the Cinépolis in Pico Rivera. The Junior theater is one screen at this location designed with the kids in mind. First off, the lobby is full of arcades which got them so excited. Then when we went inside the theater, they were so happy to see an indoor playground at the side of the theater as well as a toddler section in front of the theatre. We watched Super Mario Galaxy which has been out for some time, but the theater still had quite a few families watching the movie. Now the theater policy is that kids should only be in the play area before the movie starts and during the intermission, but the kids wanted to keep playing during the movie and the parents didn’t mind. I liked how they have booster seats as soon as you enter which my youngest one needed. Now, this theater has been around for a few years and some of the seats are starting to show their age. Also some of the booster seats were not clean. But overall, this was a great first experience for the kids and were asking when they can go back to watch another movie. However I had to tell them that this is the only movie theater with a play area.
