📖 Daisy Jones & the Six
⭐️ 3.5/5

If you’re looking for Rock ‘n Roll nostalgia, this one has it! I loved navigating the complicated dynamics of Daisy & Billy as they rose to stardom and each battle their own demons. Both have egos the size of Texas, but for good reason. I loved the way TJR brought their personas to life and made them feel like mainstream rockstars. 🎸

Billy’s a troubled man who’s battling what’s “right” for his family life and what’s “right” for his career. ❤️‍🩹 Also…justice for Graham! Always living in the shadows of his brother - I just want to give the guy a hug.

I also liked the way this one was written as one long interview. I think it allowed me to get to know each band member’s personality and made for quicker reading.

Unfortunately, the ending didn’t blow me away and left a bit to be desired. I was really invested in the plot and characters, but didn’t feel very satisfied by the end.

If you’re going to pick this one up, be mindful of some trigger warnings:

📕 Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth
🥂 Francesca Moscato {fresh flowers, orange blossom, white peach}

A newer read & highly rated amongst the club! Highlights include:
• Loveable, mislabeled main & supporting characters
• Emotional, female friendship ties
• Plot twists & turns

I personally gave this one 4.25/5. ⭐️ I’m a sucker for any dual POV or flipping between timelines (then & now).⏳ I’ve never read anything by Sally before, but enjoyed her writing style!

📖 None of This is True
🍷 OZV Zinfandel Blend (hints of blackberry, mocha, plum)

Another top pick for last night’s book club!! We’re on a hot streak with good books. 📚✨

None of This is True was a 4/5 ⭐️ for me. It satisfied everyone - from those who love the gory details of a thriller to those (me, lol) who prefer not to hear about TOO much. 🫣

Josie is having a mid-life crisis (meets psychotic break??) and becomes infatuated with the life of a successful podcaster, Alix. Josie persuades her to cover Josie’s life, in a hot new tell-all series. 🎙️ But things begin to take a turn as Alix learns more about Josie’s past…

I remember being confused at the end of Verity, and questioning who was sane and who wasn’t. I had similar feels after this one! 😵‍💫 Kind of wish this was a series and not a stand alone. Our #BookClub needs closure!!

WOW. This book.
📖 Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall
🍷 Full glass of Red Sangria 🍊🍇

This was a 5/5 🌟 read for me. We didn’t get a chance to meet up and discuss with the read of the #bookclub, but I know a few others felt the same.

Emotional. Gripping. Broken Country is Clare’s US Debut. And Clare, we thank you for being here. 💛

This was the perfect blend of historical fiction, romance, and family drama. I would even claim a touch of thrill as we navigate the crumbs of detail Clare gives us leading up to the accident. The past haunts the present lives of Beth & Frank. The mingling of sweetness and tart flavors from a full-bodied sangria fit the bill for this one.

I need more from Clare if this is how she’s starting off her career in the US! Adding another - “Days You Were Mine” - to my TBR.

FINALLY checking @alihazelwood off my list!! My first read by Ali & a book that’s been sitting on my #TBR for a while now. 🔬💗

Gave this cutie a 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
📖 The Love Hypothesis
☕️🍸 Espresso martini pairing - to commemorate the weekly Starbucks dates between Olive & Adam

Unfortunately…I’m a sucker for a fake dating trope. It gets me every time. Once Olive and Adam each realized how this situationship could benefit them, I was hooked. 🪝 I would also consider this my first dip in the pool of romantic academia. Might be here to stay. 👀🫶🏻

The broody guy whose only soft spot is for the girl he’s been pining for. This one includes:
✅ Fake Dating
✅ Grumpy / Sunshine
✅ (Small) Age Gap

**Trigger warning for brief SA scene that changes the course of the book a bit. ⚠️

Spoiler alert: this wasn’t my favorite TJR read. But the vibes in Cali made up for it 🌴🐚

This was a quick read, with a plot that initially intrigued me. During this dual POV, Carrie & David begin sharing letters as they uncover more details of their spouses’ affairs - with each other. 📝

Gave this one 2/5 ⭐️ as it felt a bit predictable and I didn’t particularly connect with any of the characters.
