BLACKTAIL by Scott Hawkins.

BLACKTAIL is violent.
It is primal.
It is heartbreaking.
It is BRILLIANT!

@scotthawkinswrites brings us the legend that is BLACKTAIL. A young half wolf brutally orphaned. Alone, but with immense courage, BLACKTAIL finds love unexpectedly when he finds his RENREN who is chained in an abysmal existence in a humans back yard.

But his love and his children are brutally taken from him.
And the rage of BLACKTAIL is awoken.

If you haven't read this yet. Then I think you are really missing a masterpiece.
Scott Hawkins captures the very essence of the wolf hunt. He enters our soul with his words, and makes us really think.

This isn't a book about humans, although they are part of the story. This book is pure nature. Viciously emotive, and beautifully written.

Be warned though, this book holds absolutely nothing back.
Some scenes may be too shocking for some readers. by @booksofthevoid

Grave Empire and Steel Gods by Richard Swan.

Grave empire and Steel Gods is a fantastic muzzleloader tale full of pure fantastic nightmare material.
@richardswanauthor writes brutal tension with unbelievable ease. The dread of The Great Silence creeps into you slowly the more you read. The deeper you travel into this world, the better it gets. It's brilliant.
It starts off slowly with Grave Empire. However, before you know it the action begins and just does not let up.

These can be read on their own without having to read The empire of The Wolf series. Which is what I have done. But, I think that I will be getting that series on my tbr as soon as possible.

These are the @goldsborobooks editions and they are absolutely stunning.

If you haven't read this series now might just be the time to do so. by @booksofthevoid

THE LAST VIGILANT by Mark A. Latham

A gritty and dark fantasy mystery. I wasn't sure about this one, but it's a great read.

I don't often go for mystery type books Dresden being the exception of course 🤣

But this book has it all.

A temperamental sergeant whose main skill is violence , covering a surprising tenderness. An elder lady who is the last of a powerful sect of magic users. Both striving to solve the unnerving mysterious disappearances of children, one of which could instigate a war.
We travel through a brutal feudal society and the author doesn't skimp nor shy away from grim details.
This is an engaging and well written book with quite a few twists throughout.
If you're into Grimdark fantasy, then give this a read.

Blood of the Banshee Complete Volume One

By T.J. Hassall

ARC REVIEW.

This edition consists of the previous five novellas that were released as individual books.

I read the individual novellas as ARC editions and the same for this complete volume. Having them all brought together here in one volume with MAPS! Is simply great.

This is a wonderful epic fantasy with significant world building, engaging character's and a fair bit of mystery and intrigue.

The inclusion of the index and an appendix that helps understand the world and it's races is very well thought out and invaluable to the reader.

Welcome to the world of Elisar, where we follow Zaras, the bounty hunter, as he searches for his missing charge Scarlet ( The assumed half Banshee blooded). He was knocked unconscious, and when he woke she was gone.

This story has multiple POV's that intertwine and eventually join. The pacing is good and the mystery engaging.

We follow Zaras, and along the way we are introduced to other characters including Auralon Dawshielth, who is a Lightbringer Valariel healer. Auralon uses his magic to place Scarlet in a sort of magically contained coma for her safety while he navigates the brutal politics of his order.

Then there is Maggie and Salt, trapped within mysterious mists at first on an island and then at sea. These two seem confusing and out of place. But, bear with it and they have one hell of a surprise for you!

I loved these books as individual novellas. I love it even more as one complete volume.

I have tried to keep the mystery intact and avoid spoilers in this review.

I hope this review will help you decide to read this book. It is available on Amazon.
Thank you @t.j.hassall for this wonderful tale. ( and for the ARC reading privilege). by @booksofthevoid
