🥀Books Over Dinner🥀
A community inspired by the warmth of Miss Barb’s Coffee and Wine Bar — a space where conversation flows as easily as the wine and every story feels like home.

Born from those intimate nights of connection, Books Over Dinner brings that same energy to book lovers everywhere — where we gather over good food, good reads, and even better company.

Here, the book nourishes the mind, the meal nourishes the body, and the community nourishes the soul. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @booksover_

Submission is not given to uncertainty.
It is offered to steadiness.

The Feminine does not soften for someone unsure of their footing.
She yields when she feels direction.
When the ground beneath her knows where it’s going.

To lead is not to dominate.
It is to stand so firmly in yourself
that another can rest without losing themselves.

True submission is trust made visible.
It happens when presence replaces persuasion,
when consistency speaks louder than desire,
when the one leading does not waver
the moment weight is placed in their hands.

This is the art:
one holds the path,
the other chooses to walk it—
not because they are smaller,
but because they feel safe enough to be open. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @booksover_

Because the 🍁Harvest Table🍁 is for everyone and this season, I’m thinking about what it means to bring our village to one table.

The Season to break bread, create with our hands, share an experience across generations, while making room for the kind of connection that happens when we show up in real life.

This week, @sirjonbishop made his own harvest-inspired ikebana arrangement, reminding his environment that creativity doesn’t have an age requirement. Children deserve spaces to explore, adults deserve opportunities to play, and we all deserve moments that invite us to slow down and connect.

So this season, we’re making room for all of it.

Join @odetoyoustudio + @antillesofbrooklyn for The Harvest Table on November 8th. Bring your family, bring a friend, bring your curiosity.

Let’s get offline and into the room. 🔗 in bio taken in Antilles Cafe by @booksover_

As the weather gets colder and the days grow shorter, it’s worth being intentional about the things that keep us feeling connected to ourselves, to our creativity, and to one another.

Sometimes, that means finding a new ritual. Making something with your hands. Slowing down long enough to notice what’s around you. Or gathering with people who remind you how much warmth there is in simply being together.

Ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arrangement, offers an opportunity to practice presence through the thoughtful arrangement of natural materials.

And that’s part of the inspiration behind The Harvest Table: an invitation to create, connect, and experience the season a little differently.

Better yet, pour yourself a glass and join us at The Harvest Table🍅

Next month, O2U Studios is partnering with @antillesofbrooklyn for an evening of seasonal creativity, good company, and unexpected arrangements inspired by the harvest.

Come for the experience. Stay for the conversation. Leave with a new appreciation for the beauty in the things we gather. taken in Antilles Cafe by @booksover_

Inspired by a night filled with jazz, dancing, and so much more. There was this particular woman sitting in window and of all the things taking place, within this one atmosphere, she is what struck me most🌹 taken in Brooklyn, New York by @booksover_

9 galleries this weekend, 7 last month, and a whole camera roll I haven’t posted yet. The highlight was catching @melissajoseph_art right after her talk on Casserole Culture.

Seeing an artist’s work online then going to see it IRL is such a surreal moment…but you let me know! The gallery bag stays packed. What should be on my list next for next month? taken in Chelsea, Manhattan by @booksover_

Some people become part of a neighborhood without ever inviting the neighborhood into their lives. They become familiar faces. Open windows. Music drifting into the night. Stories everyone has heard, but no one can quite confirm.

One warm Brooklyn night, I looked up and saw a woman sitting in her kitchen window. Below her, people were dancing to salsa, sharing drinks, and living their lives. Above them, she seemed perfectly content in her own.

I couldn’t stop thinking about her…I haven’t stopped thinking about her. Who was she? What had she lived through? And how much of a person’s story can we really know just by looking?

It was in that moment that she became The Woman in the Window, an original literary vignette. A story about the lives we witness, the lives we keep private, and the people we think we know.
