indigo ridge 💙🏔🌄🐎 (small town mystery romance)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

bookclubbed/buddy read with the lovely @gracerebeccareads and eeep!

it’s official… i’m a sucker for a small town montana romance!! the plot of indigo ridge will keep you on your toes until the very end! just when you think you’ve pieced together the mystery , new evidence presents itself that leaves you questioning everything.

our MC’s Griffin and Winslow get hot and heavy fast, thinking that neither of them will run into one another again after a one night stand, but boy were they wrong 😭 Griff was an absolute simp for Winn, and i loved every second of it!!! i cannot wait to continue reading this series with Grace. next stop juniper hill! 💚

keeping 13 🏉 🏟️💕

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

it’s official, binding 13 & keeping 13 have won my heart, scratch that— the entire tommen boys series has and the rest of the books haven’t even been released yet 🙈

keeping thirteen is the follow up book to binding thirteen and it’s just as hefty of a read but oh, it is soooo worth it.

in keeping thirteen, we finally get to see shannon own her power and live the life that she rightfully deserves along with her five other siblings 🥺 we get to witness these five siblings come together, after facing some serious tragedies and years of neglect and abuse. they receive the help they need to thrive. as i mentioned in my previous review be sure to check trigger warnings for this book.

we also get more of johnny’s perspective! i loved getting more insight on johnnys thoughts in the second book. it was interesting to watch him come to the realization of “wow this is what i’ve been working for? do i really want this for the rest of my life?” he dedicated his entire life to the sport of rugby, and one person has managed to make him question it all…

was rugby worth losing out on all those small moments he didn’t get to experience growing up? and now that’s he’s got a taste of those moments with shannon, is he willing to sign a contract for Dublin for two years and give it all up? you’ll have to read to find out🤭

loved that we were able to get tid bits of the other tommen boys in the process. i can’t wait for the rest of the series to release (gibsie and claire!!!!! eeee their book is going to be so good)

ps. i’m soaking in all the autumn weather and vibes before the winter hits. i have a feeling it’s going to be a cold one.

the dreamland billionaire series 🏰🤍

i started this series with the incredible and amazing grace a few months back and to say rowan and zahra had us HOOKED would be an understatement. i’ve done detailed reviews of each book in the series over on my goodreads if you’re interested in finding out my opinion of each as their own (linked in bio 🎀)

our favorite of the series, hands down, was final offer. as the third and final installment of the series…what a way to go out! from book one cal has always been my favorite brother, because i find him to be the most relatable. i love the mental health representation in this book, particularly the way we were able to watch just how much ADHD impacted cal’s everyday life. watching him navigate the challenges of feeling like the underdog and not wanting to conform to regular 9-5 life was really really relatable and honestly refreshing? rowan and declan are the brothers who have it all figured out, they’re billionaires who don’t have a problem making their wealthy status known and going after whatever they want. in my opinion, cal is the most down to earth brother. the detention of a golden retriever guy. i wish we got to see more of how cal came into himself during rehab, as his addictions weren’t an easy feat. i loved watching the relationship between him and cami form 🥹 talk about a girl dad! as for Lana, i really enjoyed her perspective. i wish she could’ve seen cal’s struggles a bit more instead of constantly reminding him and stating that he’s an addict. language is important. he’s not an addict he’s someone who’s struggling with a disease called addiction. that was my only pet peeve.

terms and conditions was our least favorite out of the series because we didn’t vibe much with Declan. i will say that i liked Declan far more in the final offer than in his own book. he was kinder.

i’ve never been to disneyland, but ugh reading about dreamland made me want to visit that much more!!!

the fine print- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
terms and conditions- ⭐️⭐️⭐️
final offer- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75

magic hour 🪾🌙🐺

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

i’m clearly obsessed with kristin hannah books right now 😅 will i be reading another next week? probably. there still hasn’t been a single book she’s written that i haven’t cried to, magic hour included.

like every other book i’ve picked up from this author, i’ve gone in not knowing the premise at all. i knew this book would be good when the opening chapters introduced dr. julia cates. a child psychologist being prosecuted in a wrongful death lawsuit. one of julia’s teenage patients ended up committing multiple murders and ultimately ended up taking her own life. with parents grieving, they pushed the courts to prosecute julia as they felt she held legal responsibility to warn them and the community about her patient. despite julia being dismissed from the lawsuit, her world turns upside down and she starts to question everything. her career, what occurred, and what life will look like in the days to come.

miles away, we meet julia’s older sister, ellie. she’s the chief of police in a small town where they both grew up called rain valley. while her career provides her fulfillment, she can’t help but feel empty from past failed marriages and her desire to have kids.

it’s not until a traumatized little girl shows up with a wolf on her shoulder, scars around her ankles and wrists, hanging twenty feet in the air from a tree, that ellie and julia’s lives collide again.

i loved reading about these two coming together again over their strong desire to help alice find her way home. what i loved even more, was that alice found home in them. i appreciate the side characters in this story and felt like they helped the storyline have deeper meaning. i loved julia’s slow burn romance with max, and felt like his background added even more depth to the plot. where things got lost for me, was the last 25% of the book. things felt rushed and i wish we got to see more of ellie’s story with cal. as much as i wanted alice to stay in rain valley, i couldn’t help but feel that the storyline with her father was pointless when everything was said and done.

happy fall & almost halloween 🎃 👻 the past few months have felt wildly hectic but amazing at the same time.

between picking out pumpkins, seeing one of my faves on stage, appointments, and picking up a few books out of my tbr that felt perfect for fall, i’m not surprised at how fast october felt.

hopefully this fall season has been nothing short of amazing for you 🫶🏽

i’ve read a few books this month. picked up another kristin hannah book which i really enjoyed called the magic hour (review to come) & i’m currently reading my roommate is a vampire.

i’m enjoying it so far 🦷🍁🍂 by @bookstackskat

from the first few chapters of night road, i was hooked. you meet lexie (14) who spent most of her life in and out of foster care. with the recent loss of her mother to an overdose & the turbulent relationship they shared, she feels completely alone. she’s been in and out of foster homes, not because of anything she’s done, but because most adults don’t want to take in/keep teenagers. one day, she gets news that someone’s interested in adopting her.

she arrives to port george washington and is met with a woman who looks like another version of her mom. it’s there that she connects with her long lost aunt eva. i loved reading about their relationship. i think her aunt helped lexie feel safe enough to start healing.

as the story goes on you meet jude & her twins zach and mia. at first i really enjoyed jude’s perspective, but as the story went on i found myself getting more frustrated with her page by page. i also felt guilty for that, given the grief she faced.

i adored the twins. i loved how connected they both were to lexie, and how none of them felt complete without eachother. i loved how close zach and mia were, and i loved the friendship mia held with lexie.

i saw the plot twist coming but that didn’t help me feel any less devastated when it happened. i appreciate that this book touched on such an important & heavy topic. drinking and driving needs to be talked about more. i thought night road did a really great job of showing how much one decision can change so many people’s lives.

i was angry as hell for lexie at times. i’m still upset that she took the brunt of the blame and that zach didn’t stick up for her more, but i’d also be lying if i didn’t say i was angry at her too. i loved their relationship early on, but felt broken about it by the end of things. i felt deep sadness for every single character. there was a very clear and distinct before and after in this book. let me just say, the “after” is gut wrenching. you know a book is good when you still can’t settle on a rating because of how much it made you think. i’m still somewhere in between 3 and 4 stars.

not my usual content, but alongside books i love everything music. i can’t get over how amazing this sounded from lolla!!! i’m not usually someone who feels like i’m missing out, but WOW every time i see charli perform i feel like i am. had to clip it & share. even better with headphones on 🤍 #charlixcx #lollapalooza #filmmusic #music #fun by @bookstackskat

the great alone 🪵🛶🫎🧡

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

second five star of 2026 and it’s another kristin hannah book! did it wreck me the way winter garden did? oh yeah, i was sobbing…again.

there were so many themes to this story but to me the overarching one was survival. i found myself asking over and over “what are you willing to do to survive?”

set in the kenai peninsula, 13 year old leni sets out on another adventure with her mother and father to alaska. with her father being back home from the war in vietnam, things haven’t been easy for any of them.

ernt, leni’s father, struggles with night terrors, grief, sorrow and the horror he endured at war. leni’s mother cora, remains entirely devoted to keeping her husband’s skeletons at bay, while simultaneously trying to protect leni from the truth about the type of man her father is when no one’s watching and the reality of what his hands are capable of.

in a spur of the moment decision without any consultation from anyone else, ernt decides to uproot their life again. he thinks the rural, quiet, and peace alaska brings will change their lives, and more importantly him. but leni and cora have heard it all before.

it’s there that they face not only the truth of themselves and their lives, but the wilderness of alaska. the deep, long, dark, and brutal winters where there’s nothing but cold darkness 16 hours a day for six months straight. where they’re forced to hunt for their own food, barter with others, source water, create heat, and forget the people they once were because those versions of themselves couldn’t survive it.

leni meets a boy named matthew with crooked teeth, and in my opinion you read about one of the most beautiful and tragic love stories written. a story that fills you with hope but leaves a sick twisted feeling in your stomach.

i’m falling into a kristin hannah rabbit hole! i can’t get enough of her writing.

heavy trigger warning for domestic violence. if you’re looking for something to emotionally shatter you and slowly put you back together again, this book is it!

🎶 that reminds me of the story: slow life- grizzly bear by @bookstackskat

wow……..wow. this book absolutely shattered me. i’m talking completely devastated to the point where i was crying so much that my eyes were swollen and i was choking on my sobs.

i didn’t realize how connected i was to each and every one of these characters until i finished the last page, but wow. i have never and i mean never cried to a book the way i did to winter garden.

i don’t typically read historical fiction, so i wasn’t sure what to make of the story at first. for the first quarter of the book i didn’t really feel connected to anyone other than merideth. a woman in her forties who’s navigating a tough relationship with her mother, stagnant marriage, and failed ambition/dreams.

shortly after we start meeting each character and kristin hannah has a away of making you fall deeper and deeper into each of their heads.

winter garden is a story about love, grief, and loss from all angles.

from reading about vera’s suffering in russia during world war two, to fighting tooth and nail for her and her children to survive, yearning for her husband who’s at war, battling severe cold & starvation, and losing herself in the process…her story will devastate you and that’s putting it lightly.

you’ll read about nina, the youngest daughter who’s a world traveler and national photographer, photographing women’s toughest moments, resiliency, and strength. you’ll dive deep into her thoughts surrounding settling down and never truly knowing if a “traditional” life is in the cards for her.

you’ll read about both merideth and nina struggling to navigate their grief over losing their father and their grief surrounding the absent relationship they’ve had with vera for their entire lives.

you will go on a journey with these three women and at times, you’ll question where the book is taking you. there were times where i felt bored, confused, afraid, angry, sad, and joyful.

winter garden captures the many aspects of grief and love. it reminds us that with love there will always be loss, and the grief we will inevitably endure will always be worth the love and connection we feel with eachother.

i will remember this book for the rest of my life. 5 stars. by @bookstackskat

just for the summer 🌊🩷

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

my most anticipated book of this past summer and it didn’t disappoint! this was my first abby jimenez book, so i wasn’t sure what to expect but i knew how many people raved about her writing so it had to be good!

there were so many details i loved about this book, but wow do i see myself in emma. her childhood was spent worrying about her mom, her safety, food, shelter, you name it. she was a mini adult who yearned for her mothers affection and attention. growing up in foster care shaped the way emma interacted with not only people and relationships, but the world. emma felt like she was constantly on the run. if she was in a place too long she’d find herself having the sudden urge to pack up and go. this is why travel nursing was the perfect career for her. she loved the flexibility of traveling and never being tied down.

one day when she’s on lunch with her bestfriend maddy, she reads a AITAH post on reddit. the posters name is justin and he talks about how he lives across from a funny billboard and how his friends have a running joke that whoever he dates ends up breaking up with him and immediately finding their soulmate. they joke that he’s cursed.

emma sends him a message talking about her own bad luck with relationships and they hit it off. they decide to make a pact with eachother. she’ll take a travel contract in minnesota, they’ll go on a handful of dates, he’ll send her a survey before and after to find out what went right and what went wrong. by the end of it, they’ll find their soulmates. what could go wrong?

THEY FELL IN LOVE! it was so cute, and FUN! justin’s acts of service were A1. his willingness to stay by emma’s side through every moment where she felt “small” was a beautiful thing to read. i greatly appreciated abby’s ability to capture how the foster care system can change someone’s entire life. there were so many quotes that i found myself relating too, and so many moments where i wanted to go inside the book and tell emma it was her trauma speaking not her.

overall this was such a fun and easy read. perfect way to end the summer 🌻

star rating guide ✨💫 i’m still on goodreads but i’ve been tempted to switch over to fable for a while! one of my favorite things to do when i finish reading is to write my reviews. i don’t know if it makes a difference with how i remember a book, but i’d like to think it does. are you someone who uses .5’s? cause i’m someone who even goes as far as .75’s 😭 i never was but i kinda shifted to half stars and on two years ago. by @bookstackskat
