📖 Book Review: The Dopamine Discipline by @manthanhub

The Dopamine Discipline is a thought-provoking book about dopamine, digital distractions, addictive habits and self-control. After reading it, I found myself thinking more seriously about how easily scrolling, notifications and instant pleasure can affect our focus and daily life...🍁

🌿What makes this book unique is its combination of modern neuroscience with ancient yogic wisdom and Brahmacharya. The author presents discipline not as punishment or suppression, but as a way to redirect your energy towards meaningful goals.....🌿

I especially liked the simple and encouraging writing style. The book doesn't focus only on quitting bad habits; it also explains the importance of understanding triggers, building discipline and developing a stronger sense of purpose.

💜The discussion around PMO addiction is direct and may feel intense at times, but it is presented with an overall message of awareness rather than shame.

Overall, The Dopamine Discipline is a relevant and motivating read for anyone struggling with distraction, overstimulation or compulsive habits. Its biggest strength is the way it connects science, spirituality and practical self-discipline in one book.....

✨️A good reminder that real freedom begins when you learn to control your attention and choices...✨️

Book💜- The Superhuman Lifestyle
Author🌿- Radheshyam More @manthanhub

This book made me think differently about pleasure, desire, discipline, and the meaning of a fulfilling life.

💛What I liked most is that it doesn’t present Brahmacharya simply as celibacy. It explains it as a journey of self-control, discipline, awareness, and directing your energy toward a higher purpose. The author connects ancient Indian wisdom, Ayurveda, spirituality, psychology, and modern scientific ideas to explain this concept.

The chapters on the cycle of pleasure, addiction, negative habits, and self-control were particularly interesting. The book explains how temporary pleasures can become habits and how replacing them with meaningful activities such as reading, meditation, exercise, learning, and spiritual practice can lead to a more balanced life...🌿

The discussions around semen, sexual energy, and continence were also quite detailed. However, some of the scientific claims felt overstated to me. Several ideas are supported through older literature or individual research references, so I think readers should approach these claims critically rather than accepting everything as established medical science.

I also liked the references to personalities such as Swami Chidananda, Sushruta, and Dr. Miriam Grossman, along with several historical thinkers and scientists. These references add different perspectives to the discussion.....

Overall, this is an unusual and thought-provoking book. I may not agree with every claim, especially some of the scientific ones, but the book definitely made me question my own understanding of pleasure, discipline, and self-control....

My biggest takeaway:✨️ sometimes a fulfilling life is not about chasing more pleasure, but learning to control what we chase....✨️ taken in Delhi, India by @bookwormlens_

Book- ELINA'S DIARY
Author- Manya Nigam @author.manyanigam

I closed Elina's Diary and sat in silence for a while because this story refuses to leave your mind.

🍁At first, I thought I was reading a murder mystery. Then it became a psychological thriller. A few chapters later, it turned into a puzzle where every character looked suspicious and every truth felt incomplete. Just when I believed I had figured everything out, Manya Nigam completely changed the game.💜

What impressed me the most wasn't just the twists—it was the characters. Jahnvi is one of those protagonists you constantly question. Sometimes you feel sorry for her, sometimes you doubt her, and sometimes you wonder if you're looking at the wrong person altogether. Elina, despite her mysterious presence, dominates the entire story. Even when she isn't physically there, you can feel her influence in every major event.🍁 Yatharth, Dhruv, Ruhi, Monica, Kavya,🍁 and the rest of the cast all have meaningful roles. No character feels unnecessary, and every connection eventually matters.....

The biggest strength of this novel is how brilliantly every storyline is interconnected. Tiny conversations, forgotten incidents, and seemingly ordinary moments return later with shocking significance. I genuinely had to rethink my theories multiple times because the author never lets you stay comfortable with your assumptions......✨️

The psychological aspect is handled exceptionally well. Instead of relying only on suspense, the book explores guilt, obsession, manipulation, trauma, love, revenge, and the blurred line between truth and perception. It constantly makes you wonder whether you're believing the right person.....✨️

The ending deserves special appreciation. It doesn't shock you just for the sake of a twist—it rewards every patient reader who paid attention to the smallest details throughout the journey. Looking back, I realised that the clues were always there; I simply failed to see them.

⭐ Rating: 4.5/5🌿
A thriller that doesn't just tell a story—it plays with your mind until the very last page...🌸

A Simple, Practical Guide to Parenting....🍁

I picked up The Parenting Code by Dr. Ajay Bajpai @royalchildrenshospital expecting it to be a typical parenting book, but it turned out to be much more simple and practical than I expected. The book doesn’t feel like a lecture or a list of strict rules. It feels more like a calm conversation about understanding children and handling the different situations parents face while raising them.

✨️What I liked most is that the book covers different stages of a child’s life, from infancy to teenage years. It talks about very common issues like crying, tantrums, screen time, studies, mood changes, peer pressure and communication. The advice is explained in simple language, so it’s easy to understand and relate to...✨️

One thing that really stood out to me was the focus on understanding children instead of simply controlling them. The book explains why patience, trust and communication are so important. I especially liked the idea of choosing connection over control, because sometimes children need to feel understood before they can actually understand what we are trying to teach them....💜

The book also includes 125+ practical questions that parents commonly face, which makes it feel useful for real-life situations rather than just theoretical. I liked that the author doesn’t make parents feel guilty for making mistakes. Instead, he reminds us that parenting is a learning process and nobody can be perfect all the time.

The writing is easy and the chapters are not too heavy, so it can be read even with a busy schedule. Knowing that Dr. Ajay Bajpai comes from a medical background also adds credibility to the practical advice shared in the book.

Overall, The Parenting Code is a thoughtful and easy-to-read book about parenting, communication and emotional understanding. Even though I’m not a parent myself, I found several points interesting and it made me think differently about how children see and respond to things around them...💛

A good read for parents, new parents, or anyone who wants to understand children a little better....🍁

🍁Bogey Bonhomie by @sunjeevbhatia

Bogey Bonhomie is a beautifully woven story about friendship, destiny, history, and reincarnation. Set across two timelines, the novel takes us from 1961 Goa to modern-day Mumbai and gradually brings together mystery, emotions, and human relationships...

What I enjoyed most was the way friendship has been portrayed. The characters have different personalities, dreams, and ways of looking at life, which makes their relationships feel natural and relatable. As they grow from carefree youngsters into adults, their friendships also evolve, making the story feel connected to real life....✨️

The Goa setting adds a wonderful charm to the narrative, while the mystery surrounding Ray and Roy, their past, and the buried treasure keeps the curiosity alive. I especially enjoyed the way the two timelines are connected and how small details gradually become meaningful as the story progresses.

🌿The writing is simple, engaging, and filled with emotion. The author has beautifully balanced friendship, mystery, history, and the supernatural without making the story feel predictable. Some twists genuinely surprised me and made me want to keep reading.💜

Overall, Bogey Bonhomie is a unique and memorable read. It is not just about friendship but also about how certain connections can survive time, circumstances, and even lifetimes.....

A heartfelt story with mystery, emotion, and a unique concept—definitely worth picking up if you enjoy stories that go beyond the usual friendship narrative.... taken in Delhi, India by @bookwormlens_

Book- Never forget the crows 🌿
Author- Supriya Bansal

A Dark Thriller That Stays With You..💜

I picked up Never Forget the Crows expecting a crime thriller, but it turned out to be much more layered. The story combines murder, mystery, trauma, guilt, and the darker side of human nature without making the plot unnecessarily complicated.....🌿

The story begins with a disturbing body discovery in Delhi, bringing ACP into a case filled with missing clues, false leads, hidden connections, and unreliable testimonies. I liked how the mystery unfolds gradually instead of depending on constant twists.

ACP Bhuvan is one of the strongest parts of the book. He is intelligent and dedicated, but also has personal doubts and family pressures that make him feel more realistic than a typical fictional cop. His colleague Ghanshyam Singh adds a nice balance to the investigation with his straightforward and slightly humorous personality.....🍂

Jagat is the character who stayed with me the most. His traumatic past and silence make the reader question the simple idea of who is a victim and who is a perpetrator. Munni is equally memorable, especially because of the fear, guilt, and secrets she carries.

✨️I also liked the way Delhi is portrayed. The contrast between posh colonies and struggling neighbourhoods gives the story a strong atmosphere. The recurring crows add an eerie symbolic touch and fit perfectly with the darker mood of the novel.🌟....

The writing is simple and easy to follow, while the suspense comes mainly from the characters and their motives. The ending is especially effective because it doesn't give everything a simple black-and-white explanation....💜

What I liked most is that this isn't just about solving a murder. It makes you think about trauma, circumstances, guilt, and how society can sometimes create the very monsters it later fears.🍁 taken in Delhi, India by @bookwormlens_

Book- The great Indian medico masala 🌿
Author- Dr. Kumar Nirbhay @drkumarnirbhay

I picked up The Great Indian Medico Masala expecting a few funny medical stories, but I ended up enjoying it much more than I thought I would. This book is a perfect mix of humour, slice-of-life fiction, satire, and heartfelt moments, making it an entertaining read even if you have no medical background....

The character of Arun instantly felt relatable. Watching him navigate hostel life, awkward ragging situations, medical college struggles, and unforgettable seniors made me laugh more than once. Stories like "Drawstring: The Nada of a Pyjama," "The Most Nasal Reason to Become a Doctor," "Harendra to Harry," "What Is Today?" and "Dr Ravan" are packed with witty observations and clever humour, but they also show the human side of becoming a doctor....🍁

What I liked most was that the comedy never felt forced. The jokes come naturally from real-life situations, and behind every funny moment there's a lesson about resilience, friendship, confidence, or empathy. Dr. Kumar Nirbhay has a simple, engaging writing style that makes it easy to keep turning the pages....✨️

✨️If you enjoy medical fiction, campus stories, humorous memoir-style fiction, or character-driven books, this is definitely worth reading. It's funny, nostalgic, and surprisingly meaningful—a book that can make you laugh one moment and reflect the next. I genuinely had a great time reading it and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a refreshing and entertaining read.✨️

A Dystopian World That Truly Feels Crumpled 🍁

I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I started c r u m p l e d, but after finishing it, I can say that this is one of the most unusual and unpredictable books I’ve read recently.....💜

What immediately stands out is the writing style. It doesn’t read like a conventional novel—it feels more like a futuristic screenplay playing inside your head. The dialogues, scene directions, camera movements and voiceovers give it a very cinematic feel. The author has created a chaotic world where fantasy, dystopia, metaphysics, politics, greed, drugs, destiny and human nature all collide.

The characters are probably the strongest part for me. Deb is flawed, unpredictable and almost broken, but that makes him interesting. Mira brings mystery and purpose to the story, while Viper Python feels like the kind of villain you genuinely want to see challenged. Characters like Shaheen, Mir, Kamal, Prof. Dand, Mittal, Politician Rao and Inspector Brij Trilochan also add depth to the story, with each representing something beyond their individual role....🌿

I especially liked the idea of the King, Queens and Jack being connected with luck, destiny and the possibility of changing the existing order. The fictional cities and locations such as Pompai, Caarjat, Guhu, Toona and the Mandammam Islands add to the surreal atmosphere while still carrying echoes of our own society.

What makes the book special is that beneath the dark humour and unusual storytelling, there are serious themes of power, corruption, manipulation, addiction, greed, inequality and the consequences of human actions. The futuristic setting of 2169–2170 makes these themes even more interesting....💛

The story is unpredictable and definitely not a conventional read, so it requires some patience, but that unpredictability also kept me engaged.

💜Overall, c r u m p l e d is weird, experimental, cinematic and thought-provoking. It feels like the author deliberately broke conventional storytelling rules to create a world where there are no rules.🌿 taken in India by @bookwormlens_

Book- The Somewhat Biased Guide to Odia Food.🍁
Author- Navoch Mohanayak @navochm

I picked up The Somewhat Biased Guide to Odia Food expecting a light book about Odia cuisine, but it turned out to be much more. It is a delightful blend of humour, food writing, cultural non-fiction, nostalgia, and history, presented in a casual and entertaining style....🌿

What I enjoyed most is that this isn't a conventional cookbook. Instead of simply giving recipes, Navoch Mohanayak explores the stories, traditions, memories, and emotions connected with food. From dalma and pakhala bhata to chhena poda, pitha, fish, tiffins, and temple food, every chapter shows how deeply food is connected with identity and everyday life.....🍁

The author's humour is one of the book's biggest strengths. The writing is witty, conversational, and occasionally sarcastic, making the reading experience feel like listening to a friend passionately talk about his favourite food. The "somewhat biased" approach works beautifully because the bias feels more like genuine love for the culture.

I also enjoyed the historical journey of Odia cuisine, particularly its connection with Odisha's maritime past and ancient sea routes. The recommendations for local food stalls and shops add another interesting touch and genuinely made me curious to explore Odia cuisine myself.

✨️What makes this book special is its ability to make you laugh, feel nostalgic, learn about a culture, and crave food at the same time. As someone who wasn't deeply familiar with Odia food beyond a few popular dishes, I came away with a much broader appreciation of its variety and cultural importance.✨️

If you enjoy food writing, cultural non-fiction, humorous storytelling, or discovering regional Indian cuisine, this book is definitely worth picking up....🌸

🌿Book - RISING BEFORE DAWN BREAKS
🍂Queen- Archika Shrivastava @archika.srivastava

This book caught my attention because it is not just about one character’s journey; it also makes you think about life, choices, karma, and the difference between who we are and who we want to become.🌿

✨️Kayal Khanna is the main character, and honestly, she is not the typical perfect protagonist. She is strong, practical, ambitious, and sometimes quite harsh, but behind that tough personality, she is carrying a lot of emotional baggage. Her past, her relationship with Abeer, and her responsibilities towards her daughter Kaina make her character feel much more real.✨️

Abeer is one of those characters who brings warmth and positivity to the story. His relationship with Kayal adds a nice emotional touch, while Kaina gives another important dimension to Kayal’s life.....🍁

I also found Birendra Narayan interesting. He is powerful, dominating, unpredictable, and has a very different personality from Kayal. Their professional equation adds a lot of tension to the story. Dr. Arnav is another character I liked because he brings a strong moral conflict into the narrative.

What I liked most is the contrast between Kayal’s past and present. The story slowly makes us question how circumstances, loss, ambition, and our own choices can change a person.

The writing is simple and easy to follow, with a good mix of emotions, corporate drama, relationships, spirituality, and mystery. The opening also gives the book a deeper philosophical feel with the idea of moving from darkness to light....💜

I’m curious to see where Kayal’s journey goes from here and how the different characters and their choices will come together.

Overall, a promising start with interesting characters, emotional depth, and enough mystery to keep me reading.....🌸 taken in Delhi, India by @bookwormlens_

Book- UNEETARIA
Author- Sean walker @officialseanwalker

I really enjoyed this book. From the very beginning, Jalen and Amara felt like characters I could genuinely connect with. Their chemistry is natural, their conversations feel authentic, and watching them explore an extraordinary world together kept me invested throughout the story.🌿

One of the things I appreciated most was the author's world-building. Every new place feels vivid and immersive, creating a strong sense of wonder without overwhelming the reader. The writing is descriptive, but it also keeps the story moving at a steady pace.🍁

Jalen stood out to me as a thoughtful and dependable character, while Amara's curiosity and emotional depth made her easy to root for. Together, they make the journey both heartfelt and exciting.....🌟

If you enjoy fantasy that blends romance, adventure, mystery, and emotional moments, this book is definitely worth checking out. I won't reveal any plot details because discovering the story alongside Jalen and Amara is part of what makes this book such an enjoyable read.....🌿 taken in India by @bookwormlens_

A Creature Void of Form is an absolute masterpiece that completely blew me away. It is a stunning, beautifully honest exploration of womanhood, healing, and finding one's own voice....

Poems like "In Flight", "Lovesong", "Wishing on a Star", and "When the Clouds Moved" each bring a unique emotional perspective, exploring themes of resilience, vulnerability, hope, and self-discovery. Together, they create a deeply moving reading experience without ever losing their authenticity.....🍁

The emotional depth throughout the collection is incredible. Every poem feels personal yet universally relatable, and the writing is lyrical, thought-provoking, and emotionally resonant. The emotions linger long after you've closed the book, making this a collection you'll want to revisit....💜

✨️If you appreciate poetry that challenges the status quo, speaks directly to the soul, and beautifully explores the complexities of love, pain, healing, and personal growth, you absolutely need to pick this up.✨️ taken in India by @bookwormlens_
