We said an unexpected goodbye to our sweet Lupine baby last Friday. I’ve never had a connection to a pet like I did w Lupine. I didn’t even want her - Val dragged me to Christian’s grandma’s house to look at some puppies that were abandoned at the river. I said I would meet her but not commit to adopting. When we got there, Lupine ran to the door and jumped up on me as I entered the house - my guard immediately dropped and she was ours. She was so in tune w the woods - the trails, bluff lines, boulders, and creeks. I’d take her on climbing trips to Arkansas and she would be such a good girl, leading the pack on trail and snoozing at the base of some of the best walls in the state. Most people only saw the napping, gentle, city version of Lupine, but when I took that girl into nature, she burned bright and we were lockstep in traversing Ozarks terrain. She day hiked 17mi round trip to the cirque of the towers and back in the Wind River range. She played in every body of water she came across. Fished for 100hours and never caught a damn thing, but always tried. She was a top tier snuggler. She snored when she slept, just like her dad. She had velvet ears and the softest fur anyone had touched, everyone said so. She’d greet my friends like they were the most important people alive, whining and showing her belly. She despised delivery drivers and vowed to protect us from them. She was a reaper, hunting squirrels, rabbits, chasing deer, and even came across a bear once, but I grabbed her attention before that escalated. She got sick on car rides but played so hard every time we adventured that she’d snooze all the way home. She loved her sister Lollie and immediately welcomed her to our home. I can’t say enough about my baby. Lupine. Lu bear. Lu. LuLu. Snoopin Lupine. Lupe a Snoop, Loopy. Snoopy. Boops.

08/2024 RMNP - Hallet Peak

Squeezed in a little Park day with @connordykes over an extended weekend in CO. Connor picked an old line named Hesse-Ferguson (FA 1974) that runs up the center of the second buttress of Hallet. We encountered some rain on the hike up, which soaked the first few pitches, including the crux roof. Connor took the lead and cruised - because anything is possible with a Connor on the rack. The upper pitches dried out and we had a bluebird day after those initial clouds. Overall, a super fun lil alpine day with my old buddy. Looking forward to Yosemite next month with the crew. by @boonethedude
