POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What a year this has been.

It started on sax with @oceanalleyband on their Love Balloon tour, their biggest Australian and New Zealand headline run yet. Catani Gardens, The Domain, Spark Arena. An incredible way to begin 2026 🌊🎷

In July I had the privilege of being string arranger and musical director for Wildflower, presented by @wildflower_am and @abbotsfordconvent as part of WinterLive. We reimagined the music of @killqueenie , @wilsn_music and @_n.kechi (@oweludreamhouse for strings in the Oratory. Three extraordinary voices, one very special night 🎻

I've also been writing strings and horns for some wonderful artists:

@mattcorby – Tragic Magic. String arranger on "Burn It Down", "Locked In", "War to Love" and "Maker", beautifully recorded by @stephen_mowat_ Now nominated for three ARIA Awards. Congratulations Matt and team 🙌

@temporaryblessings – Sumbisori. Strings for Liam McGorry's cinematic soul record, winner of Best Independent Jazz Album at this year's AIR Awards 🏆

@epicuretheband – Evenings in Honduras. Horn arrangements and saxophone on their first album in almost 20 years. A real honour to be part of this Ballarat legends' return 🎺

@kaitlinkeeganmusic – "Bassendean Station" and her new single "Panic Attack". Her debut album 20 Something is out 30 October.

@tilly.fenton – "Rearview" and "Lucky Girl", produced by @michaelbelsar Her EP Serendipity is out 27 November.

@kyearnot – "The Gaps I Could Fill" and "How Could It Be Wrong", from his debut EP The Gaps.

And saxophone on @hana.stretton beautiful album tiarn 🎷

Closer to home, I've been producing this year's Be Hear Now singles for @creativecityballarat at my studio, Sunny South, recorded with local session players and strings and mixed by @damiencharles Keep an ear out for @oscarperrettmusic , @backyardutopia, @thedarlingsfamilytrust , @atomic_entourage and @_patlova_ , with singles coming soon. There's so much talent in this town 💛

Thank you to every artist who trusted me with their music this year. And there's more on the way, with some amazing collaborations I can't wait to share soon 👀🙏

Niger River - is out now 🫧 link in bio!

Niger River started with a simple idea: to lock in with a hypnotic groove and remain uncomplicated. With the track looping in Nic’s headphones, a bassline came, and that was the turning point.

The mood and feeling are present within the first 5 seconds of listening; lush strings, driving drums, percussion and Nkechi’s main vocal melody right at the top - there’s no getting to the point.

Simple, repetitive backing vocals occupy essential space, and when the strings rise to the top, we can see the river and feel it taking us with it.

Our debut album ‘Owelu Dreamhouse’ is available for pre-order via Bandcamp💖

'Tourist', is officially OUT NOW...click to read more...⬇️🎶

'Tourist' is the first taste of our debut album, an easy-going anthem with a classic Owelu Dreamhouse twist. It's a laid-back jam influenced by the likes of Joy Crookes and Cleo Sol, but with our own cinematic soul and Afrobeat groove.

The Story

This one poured out of me in a single take. It’s all about the third-culture kid experience: the feeling of fitting in effortlessly when you're overseas, but still standing out in your own backyard. It’s a complex journey, but there’s so much beauty in it. I hope you can find your own story within this track.
— Nkechi

When we were working on this tune, Nkechi just came in and laid down the first two verses in a single take. It was one of those moments where everything just clicks. Later, after hitting a bit of a creative brick wall, we stumbled on a new F minor groove that completely shifted the energy. And just like that, musical magic. Bob's your uncle.
— Nic

Go listen now—link in bio! We can’t wait to hear what you think.

The last time I was on stage @hermajballarat I was playing lost boy no.3 in the @blocmusictheatre’s 1993 production of Peter Pan wearing a furry onesie 🐻 Which was AWESOME. But probably not as awesome as performing at Resurgence will be!! The gala re-opening event for @hermajballarat featuring an all star line up, backed by an orchestra and choir and lead by musical director and probably the nicest guy on earth @boonysaxman. Oh… and Epicure’s first performance since 2015. This night will go down in Ballarat legend. Be there!! Link in bio for tix 💫💫
