Yes, it’s true. We launched a new reward on Kickstarter so we can meet our stretch goal of 70k - a custom Boots necklace by designer @nicole__hendry in either sterling silver or 14k gold 💿📀

This boot was drawn to represent every type of boot in one. Anyone can wear this boot.

We have 6 days to go! Building out a bakery is expensive and in the past week our buildout quote went from 100 to 150. To give you an idea, electric alone is 43k. In these final days we are leaning on our people!!!

PS - if you already pledged and want a necklace instead, you can adjust your pledge!

Our first ever popup as Boots Bread at @purslaneattheboathouse ! So much screen time organizing this fundraiser, gadamn we’re ready to step away and bake! We’re serving two things:

sourdough cinnamon rolls
&
whole grain biscuits + homemade cultured butter & concord grape jam - YES, the grapes were grown in bed stuy at @harttohartgarden

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO BUILDING OUR NEW BAKERY / suggested min donation of $10 per item / max 2 items per person

September 13th, today, 50k on Kickstarter. We are overwhelmed by the incredible support from our amazing community - to each and every one of you who has been watching, contributing, organizing fundraising opportunities for us, connecting us to people, sharing it on your social, etc. It’s beyond what we could have imagined. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Right now, we are simply celebrating. If you happen to be in Brooklyn next weekend on Sat 9/19, we’ll be popping up with some of our classics and we invite you to join us. More info will follow this week.

In the meantime, we are still actively fundraising. As we receive updated buildout quotes and landlord negotiations, any amount raised above our 50k goal will ensure our bakery can survive the first 6-12 months. We will keep sharing information over the next few days. These updates are coming to us live.

Garden chat with Megan ⭐️👢

How we source at @bootsbread is a deeply intentional choice, one that’s mindful of our climate impact and honors the opportunity to play a role in our regional grain economy.

One thing Megan is reminded of often through her work at @climatefarmschool is that the cost to grow food and the price at which it is sold are two separate issues. Food that is often cheaper is *actually* more expensive because of the externalized costs on our health and planet.

Farming at @gentletimefarming thanks to the incredible @annesaxelbylegacyfund, helped inform these values! And we’re so excited to source from folks like @brooklyngranaryandmill who share the same vision. by @bootsbread
