As we mourn the death of our monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, we remember and reflect on the impact she has made on this country, and also the changes she witnessed.

15 Prime Ministers, a growing Common Wealth, and momentous Jubilees; these but a few highlights through the course of her illustrious 70 year reign.

Many may not know her humour, but it was seen in recent years with the involvement in the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony, and most earlier this year (2022) marking her incredible Platinum Jubilee with Paddington Bear!

She swore to serve this country. Our National Anthem references ‘long to reign over us’ words she stood by from the moment she took office. She demonstrated remarkable poise, professionalism, and humility in her role as Queen, Head of State.

Many, in the UK or indeed across the world, do not know of a time without Queen Elizabeth II, believing she would live on forever. Sadly, this was not the case and at 96 years of age, after health issues, we lost our Great Monarch on 8th September 2022. The world is still reeling in shock, and whilst condolences grow to the Royal family, the words many utter is that of Thanks. Thank you Ma’am! Your service is fulfilled. Rest easy up there Ma’am. 🕊💔😭🫡🇬🇧

Now as we move onto the next chapter in our country’s history, we celebrate the reign of King Charles III. May he continue his late mothers legacy and prove that there’s still place for the Monarchy.

‘Underestimate Me’ by @hollyhavensmusic review

Written following misaligned appraisals not agreeing with capabilities, Holly tells me writing the song was really empowering.

The lyrics speak of a defiance against peoples expectations and serves as a reminder that we need to listen to our own voice. Be comfortable in not pleasing others and doing what serves you.

‘Cowboy Hat’ by @courtney_amelia_ review.

Written following a break up, but inspired by a conversation from the relationship, the song focuses on the quintessentially Country, the humble hat.

The chorus was written straight after the break up and the rest of the song was formed round this. With focus on that vulnerable time of a break up, and questioning who we should be open and vulnerable with.

‘Shout Out’ by @rhiannonpaige_music review

The song beautifully written together with @laurajaynesongs and @alleycatphil captures the fight and struggle competing artists have within the industry, all muscling for radio play, chart entries, festival slots, sometimes being forced into certain situations or characters. The song has a defiant message of having the courage to be yourself.
