Book review⚓️✨

TAGLINE: A pirate with a deadly secret. A princess desperate to save her dying kingdom.

This YA fantasy read is such an enjoyable book with pirates and witches and royalty that will have you twitching in your seats, flipping through the pages, seeking the romance and forced proximity and edging for the characters which are of course, morally gray and toxic! Who doesn’t love those types of characters 😗

I really enjoyed this read. It was so much fun blurring through those pages and tagging along on the story! There is also magic 🪄 and multiple povs which is something I love in novels!

It’s definitely a read a fantasy reader must pick up sometime!

Happy Release Date to @christinalfarley for this amazing beauty!

“The Immortal Secret” is a YA contemporary romance with most of the tropes we all love: forbidden love, forgotten secrets, swoony romance, hidden identity and many more!

Imagine a secret so powerful, it can’t be contained? Don’t you want to see what it could be from the synopsis?

SYNOPSIS:

Step into a world where immortals reign and power is everything. Estrella, an immortal stripped of her memories, is banished to live as a mortal at the mysterious Home for Girls in Florida. She begins to unravel the mystery of her past and discovers dark and terrifying secrets about her own abilities.

But when she meets two immortal rivals for her heart, her life spirals further out of control. One offers protection from her past, while the other urges her to embrace it. She debates who to trust and unwittingly thrusts herself and friends at the Home into a struggle against the powers who put them there.

Yet as memories resurface, Estrella realizes her forgotten past holds a secret more dangerous than she could have ever imagined. As powerful forces try to stop her, she must decide who she can trust her heart with.

🗡️👑🩸QOTD: What was your last read?
Or do you have any dystopian recs?

🗡️It’s been a while since I did a review but here we are after a long time of exams, reading slumps and lack of sleep! I finally managed to have the time to pick up a book and the Red Queen series was my last read!

👑I’m not going to lie, I went into this series thinking it was a fantasy - I was blindsided by booktok. Now that I finished it I find it to be more of a dystopian novel with so much action and a slight bit of romance. All in all, this series got me out of a slump and I really enjoyed it! I just need to finish the last book in the series although I’m in a slump again 😅

🩸I felt like I really knew the characters, Mare, Maven and Cal. The morally gray characters, being Maven was my favorite, his character just developed to be more wicked and crazy and it was so exciting and also infuriating seeing him develop from such a sweetheart into well.. the maven we all know and love. The wicked King.

🗡️I felt a bundle of emotions from swooning to excitement to worry as I was gripping my seat to infuriation because of some of the characters actions but the bundle of emotions makes this series all the more memorable.

👑The Hidden Crown👑

Blurb:
Trapped in her life as a servant in a magicless kingdom, Anslee yearns for the freedom she felt roaming the woods as a child. Convinced marrying a nobleman is her only way out, she should be ecstatic when she catches the eye of new-in-town Lord Avery Varrock. But this lord has brought more than riches to town - and his revelations will turn Anslee’s life upside down.
When she finds the kingdom’s hidden crown – one with a hefty reward for returning it – the crown calls to her with magic that she swore didn’t exist. Anslee must find the courage to face the truth she has uncovered – or return to her hidden life.
Facing dangerous shadow beasts, lies and half-truths, set amidst dazzling palace balls, moody woods and woefully banal corridors, Anslee’s world becomes one where shadows are best left untouched and crowns should remain hidden.

QOTD: What are your favorite tropes?

One of my personal favorite tropes to read are, “who did this to you” and “your a pompous bastard but i think I’m starting to slowly develop feelings for you”🤫
If you have a favorite, what is yours?

⚔️If you enjoy both the Tropes I have mentioned above, well, then I think I found your next read that you should most definitely add to what I suppose is surely a growing TBR pile right there on your table 🫢😬 Oh well, you can never buy enough books now can you? 🤓

⚔️I have been a fan of Cassandra Clare’s writing for a while.. like a really long time. Imagine the shock when I heard that she wrote a book that was not set in the Shadowhunter world.. Well, I was very shcoked 😃 A good sort of shocked.

⚔️Sword Catcher had me on a chokehold throughout. Clare wove so much action and feelings into the writing that I was just mesmerized, so much so that I wasted a whole nights rest just to finish this… and OMG the shock at the end… It is fair to say that I CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER for the sequel! I was clawing at my skin because of the nerves. I was legit on the edge of my seat near the end of the book because that CLIFFHANGER OH MY😟

⚔️This book weaves so much magic, action, swordplay, gothic style living, gods and royals and balls and forbidden love and who but the Ragpicker King to stay at the sidelines and watch everything unfold with a smirk on his lips and assassins at his side🏴‍☠️

THE RAGPICKER KING. KILLIAN. THE PRINCE 🙇‍♀️

No really guys, Sword Catcher is a must read if you are a fan of Cassie’s writing and Fantasy! It was such an amazing read!

🔥❤️‍🔥FLAME AND SPARROW - REVIEW❤️‍🔥🔥

QOTD: do you sometimes judge a book by its cover?

I mean… sometimes temptations take hold of my brain cause if I saw this book in my nearest bookstore, first of, I would be breathless CAUSE LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY. Second of all, I’ll be broke because I will spend all that I have to to get this onto my shelf and brag about the cover to my friends that come into my room.

Flame and Sparrow has two covers, both of which are just stunning and blow my mind! The art is brilliant and so, so beautiful!

Now, for the review aspect of things. I can’t keep talking about the cover now can I, although if I could you would see me talking about book covers all day 🙄

🔥I really, really enjoyed reading Flame and Sparrow. This is book 1 in What in my perspective is a new favorite series! F&S is a BA fantasy with some of my favorite, by far, tropes.

🔥 Some of the tropes in this magical read with plentiful of romance 👀👀 are slow burn, found family (I am genuinely obsessed with found family), deadly trials. Wait, this trope needs its own point. TOUCH HER AND YOU DIE 🗡️🗡️ I mean hearing that would have me crawling to my nearest bookshop. There are also elves, meddling gods and mythical creatures.

🔥 If you were to ask me what books this reminds me of, I would tell you: Shadow and Bone, ACOTAR (B1) and The Serpent and the Wings of Night (just replace the vampires with elves 🥲).

All in all, if the tropes did not convince you to read this book… then we’ll.. I don’t know what will. Maybe my pure recommendation. Well, I suggest you read this book filled. It’s a masterpiece of beautiful writing, characters and a plot that would surely keep you up at night!

Thank you @authorsmgaither for sending me an ARC and @bookofmatchesmedia for having me a part of this tour!
