Inspired by real letters, emails, personal stories, and events witnessed along the U.S.-Mexico border, these moving narratives were collected and curated during Dave’s time volunteering with Border Angels and serving on our Board of Directors.

Through our Familias Reunidas Bond Fund, we were able to help secure the release of Harib, a 38 year old asylum seeker from Iran who spent three months detained at the Otay Mesa Detention Center.

Harib fled Iran after facing religious persecution for renouncing his faith. He shared that after his decision, his mother was arrested and he was forced to leave his home. With no family in the United States, he arrived seeking safety and the opportunity to begin again.

Today, Harib is rebuilding his life in Sacramento with the support of a local church community. He is adapting to his new surroundings and looking toward a future filled with hope.

As temperatures climb into the triple digits, so does the urgency of our work.

Thank you to ABC 10News and Dani Miskell for highlighting our Water Drop and Day Laborer Outreach programs and the lifesaving work our volunteers do to help prevent heat-related deaths and illnesses along the border and throughout our community. Every bottle of water, electrolyte packet, care package, and cold drink distributed with love and intention, and it’s made possible by you.

 This event will take place on July 25th, where we’ll be delivering water and essential supplies in the borderlands.

Please note that volunteer spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Filling out the form doesn’t guarantee a spot, but if selected, we’ll follow up with more details.

Join us for the Caravan On Saturday, July 18! We’re looking for volunteers to drive their cars into Tijuana and help distribute much-needed donations.

To participate, you’ll need:
•A passport, SENTRI, or other appropriate travel documents
•Reliable transportation to drive into Tijuana and deliver donations
•A signed volunteer waiver
 You’ll first need to complete a volunteer application. Once approved, you can sign up for the event. If you’ve already completed one, you may simply register for the Caravan of Love.

We’re also looking for a videographer/photographer for this event! You will receive full credit on all published content!

Volunteer spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up through the link in bio. For any questions, please contact us at osvaldo@borderangels.org.
