@rpmcustomboats 16×6 Catamaran #001 coming out of the mold and ready for the 2026 updated deck and cap molds. Sea trials were completed last month on the plug (sample) boat to validate performance—and the results were outstanding. This hull features a revised tunnel design eliminating cavitation, 12” additional beam, 12” longer LOA, and 8” taller freeboard compared to its 14.5’ predecessor. You may have heard, Carlos of GRP Border Composites (formerly Baja Panga) and I have been developing a brand-new catamaran model designed to fill the gap between the original BP 14.5 and the RPM 18. Our goal with this project is simple: reduce cost without sacrificing the uncompromised quality our boats are known for. To achieve this, we’ve implemented new production efficiencies and construction techniques that streamline the build process while maintaining our elevated standards. Most importantly, we are continuing our signature approach of eliminating all mechanical bonding and fasteners between the numerous structural features. Every major component is fully glassed and structurally bonded, resulting in a true one-piece hull with unmatched strength, rigidity, and long-term durability. Every square inch has been engineered for maximum storage, utility, and fishability. The new model will be offered in a single, optimized layout inspired by the RPM 18: • Flush deck • Integrated casting platform • Center console design • Below-deck storage • 25-gallon fuel tank • 60–90 HP rating Overall Length: 15’ 6” Beam: 72” This design delivers the perfect balance of size, performance, and affordability—ideal for anglers and adventurers looking for a compact, capable, and exceptionally built offshore-ready cat but at a much more aggressive price point than the 18'. Our goal is to have boats in stock ready for rigging and delivery! The 16' hull mold is now complete, and interior tooling is being constructed as we speak! We are hoping to showcase this new model at the PCS Show in March, along with a new 18’ layout inspired by Hawaiian and SoCal commercial fishing skiffs—purpose-built for serious anglers. If this don't get you hyped, seek help 🤣 This is why I still live in California. 💯 Drove from San Diego up to Orange County with the @rpmcustomboats 18' cat, met up with @daiwa.warrior and headed West. With a few tips from @gavin_harbour and @billykeleman we ended up 62 miles offshore at one point but with @roamsat keeping us connected with other boats and @wide_open_throttle_marine rigging and maintenance, no worries !! As expected the bite went for 0 to full throttle at 4pm! Wide open foam on fun grade using casting lures and sticking a few keepers with the @morita_custom_gaffs for the afternoon! 2.5 hr ride back in with a few gallons of gas to spare! Special props to Carlos @bajapanga for being our man to build these amazing skiffs for us 🙌 by @bordercomposites
