Well, look what I found digging around in the garage today! 👀

A stack of old file photos from back in the day when I published Forum: The New Pontiac Perspective, right here in Pontiac!

And when I say back in the day, I mean a LONG, LONG time ago! 😂

Looking through these pictures brought back so many memories. Sadly, many of the people pictured have since gone on to glory. And those little kids? They’re all grown up now, with children of their own! My goodness, where has the time gone?

These pictures tell stories about Pontiac, its people, its leadership, its businesses, and the community we knew back then. So many familiar faces and places. Some are still with us, some are gone, and some of those places don’t even exist anymore.

So now I’m calling on my Pontiac folks to help me take this walk down memory lane!

Do you see yourself? TAG YOURSELF! Recognize somebody? Tag them too! Do you remember any of these events? Where were we? What was going on? Who else was there?

And if you recognize someone who has passed on, please share a memory of them. I’d love to hear their stories too. ❤️

There’s a whole lot of Pontiac history in these photographs, and I’m sure there are some stories worth telling!

Come on, Pontiac! Help me fill in the blanks. Let’s see how many memories we can bring back!

On our way back, we stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch. I am not a big fan of the chain however, the country fried steak and mash potatoes ALWAYS takes me back to Whittier Jr. and Southview High who served the best school lunches throughout the 70s! Shoutout to those wonderful hair net wearing, dressed in white, lunch ladies!! School lunch definitely are not what they use to be. What was your favorite school lunch?

Happy National Sons Day to my son, Miguel. You mean the world to me, and I am so proud of the man you are—fairly amazing in every way. Watching you follow your dreams and make your own way fills my heart. I love that for you, baby! ❤️ by @boricuahoni

Happy National Daughters Day to these two nuts!! ❤️❤️

Funny, caring, compassionate, opinionated, strong and absolutely their mother’s daughters. 😂

They make me laugh, make me proud, make me worry, and every now and then make me wonder exactly how much of me I passed down because baby….

They are very different women, but both have huge hearts and a way of showing up for the people they love. Watching them grow into the women they are today has been one of my greatest blessings.

I may not always agree with them, and they definitely do not always agree with me, but there is never a question about the love.

These are my girls, and I am so very proud of both of them. ❤️ by @boricuahoni

I have been refusing to give up my heels and wear more “sensible shoes” because of this knee situation. Today, I once again had to decide my fate.

Fcuk sensible. Vanity won. 🤷🏽‍♀️👠

Last night was good! I didn’t make it to everything I had planned, but I’m really glad I made it to the things I did.

I’ve been so busy living in the moment lately that I forget to take pictures. But I got to see some of my favorite people Friday, last night, and today, and that meant everything to me.

And Jill Marie I LOVED seeing your life-size posters! You looked absolutely stunning!

Happy Birthday, beautiful! Love you to pieces!! ❤️ by @boricuahoni

Happy Birthday, Bubby!

You know I love you and I truly appreciate the kind of man you are. You are an honorable, God-fearing man with a good heart, and the way you love your mom and your granny is beautiful to see. That says so much about you.

You have been my go-to soundman, the drummer I recommend more than anybody, an incredible producer, and the owner of one of the best recording studios in Oakland County. You have a real gift, and I am so proud of all you have built.

I am so glad I had the opportunity to know your dad. I know he is in heaven looking down on you, smiling and beaming with pride at the man you are.

I pray this new year brings you nothing but the very best. I want to see you win in every one of your endeavors because you deserve it. Keep being the good man you are. I Love you, Bubby!

If you’re looking for a little Fall freshener for your home, come by and find a piece of original art that speaks to you. Nothing changes the feel of a space quite like new artwork!

The Emerging Artist Exhibition Series #14, curated by Larry Green and Faye Gibson, opens today from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Design Studio 6, 8626 W. McNichols (6 Mile), Detroit. Come support this wonderful group of Detroit-area artists, enjoy the opening reception, and maybe take home something beautiful.

The lineup includes some artists truly worth knowing: Henry Heading is a celebrated Detroit realist whose work has been recognized by the DIA and often honors Black life and culture; Walter Bailey is known for his inventive acrylic, sculptural, and public-art work; and Inez Brown creates striking charcoal portraits often accented with gold leaf. Barbara Smith Gibson is also an active exhibiting member of Detroit’s long-standing Society of Women Painters and Sculptors. And of course the work of Reggie Hayes.

And don’t miss the Artist Talk tomorrow, Sunday, August 30, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. Great art, great artists, and a beautiful way to welcome fall.
