A few months ago, I had the honour of running stride for stride with the legend herself, @gerda_steyn , during a shoot with @thirstiwater and @mightyfineagency . Today, she made history, again, winning the Comrades Marathon for the 4th time. 🏃‍♀️🏅

It’s surreal to have shared even a few steps with someone who continues to redefine greatness in this sport. Congratulations Gerda! Thank you for the inspiration, and for being just as kind as you are fast. ❤️‍🔥🍉

1KM CONTINUOUS !! 🥁🪩❤️‍🔥

I’m honestly so proud of Carla for this one. She really is making progress each week so it was so nice to hit a proper milestone !! Which happened over almost 2 weeks ago because I’m so behind with updating this series haha whoops. 👀

Now that we have established that when she pushes herself she’s got some pace in her legs, we need to figure out what’s happening with her calves. 1km really pulled at her calves and towards the end she really had to grit her teeth. So we’ve got some work to do there 💪

If you had told me when I started running that I would run a full km with Carla I never would have believed you. I’m so happy !! ❤️‍🔥

Did I run the PB I had been training for? No. Did I still run my little heart out? Yes !! 🧨

And for the cherry on top, I got my first top 10 finish in an official race !! 😭🍒💐🪩❤️‍🔥

Going into the race I was aiming to break my 10km PB of 47:20 which I set in Cape Town at sea level with 22m of elevation back in May. I knew it was going to be hard considering altitude and 140m (🫪🫪🫪) but my training had gone relatively okay and my shins were starting to behave so I figured it was worth a try. I might have pushed to hard in the beginning so I basically had to crawl up Kings Highway and I saw my PB time slipping away. Before the race I knew there was a chance of coming top 10 if I ran a PB so I thought I was seeing that slip away too so finishing the race and being told it looked like I had managed to come in the top 10 and then having the official race results confirm 8th place has literally made my entire year of running !! 😭🌋💐💥🪩

Thank you Mr Pace Maker for trying to push me up those hills that I was so stubborn on @real_sfiso 🥹🌋

Thank you to my beautiful girlfriend for always believing in me @carla_ricci_1 💐🩷

And finally a massive shout out to @toyrensburg & @physioxpert for keeping my legs in working condition, wouldn’t be able to do this without you. 🤍

5 weeks of running and she can officially run for 5 minutes continuously and getting VERY close to her first 1km. She’s been making progress every single week and I’m so proud of my diva !!🥹⭐️ by @boringjade
