When the cost of vulnerability is constant pain and the deepest truths leave us only misunderstood, we start to ask ourselves if our words and hopes are really worth the heavy toll. Perhaps silence and quiet solitude are not surrenders but sacred acts of self-preservation to shelter the soul.We offer up our souls, our fragile words, our deepest feelings, our dearest hopes, believing we will be truly seen and heard. Yet too often, this offering is met with misunderstanding, hate, and violence, leaving the spirit and fragile being bruised and exhausted. When belief costs so dearly, we are left to wonder if the gamble of connection is worth the devastating toll it takes on our lives, our hearts, and our souls.
