Y no solo sobreviven — prosperan.

¿Y Puerto Rico?

Aquí, por décadas, nos enseñaron lo contrario.
Nos empujaron a competir. A desconfiar. A operar solos.

[ENG]When agriculture collapses, the survivors aren’t the biggest — they’re the best organized.
At BOSQUE, we’ve built a living system rooted in interdependence, where producers share infrastructure and value flows back to the source.

Our AMIGOS del BOSQUE are central to this model.
They don’t just buy coffee — they help sustain a regenerative economy, grounded in Puerto Rican hands. 🌱🇵🇷⛰️☕️ #BOSQUEPR #AMIGOSdelBOSQUE #lacordillerapr taken in La Cordillera Central, P.R. by @bosque.pr

DESDE LA CORDILLERA.
Adjuntas, Puerto Rico: El Ciudad Del Gigante Dormido.

In the town of Adjuntas, the giant looms over the townspeople, like a mythic creature – his body, rising up from the earth, like a towering God. Though a being of immense power, he chose to remain watching over the people, with his wise and discerning eye.

The people knew him well. After all, they’d all grown up in his shadow— a shade they knew held the key to the town’s good fortune.

Yes, for as long as the eldest relatives’ memories served, the giant protected their land, ensuring it’s delicate coffee plants could thrive, and its people, prosper.

Or so, they remembered of the golden times of prosperity. Today, things had changed— many of the young folk, forgot their land, and left their family behind to bask in the bright lights and cobblestone streets of the seaside cities. Those who remained, plundered the land, chasing greater & greater yields.

Now, the sun shone down in brutal heat, storms ravaged through unencumbered, and the soil grew dull— the giant no longer stood erect in watch. No, now he appeared to slumber…. TO BE CONTINUED

🌄 Deep Dive: The Terroir of Puerto Rico’s Highest Scoring Coffee 🌱

🌬️ Vientos Alisios & Unique Terroir: The Northeastern trade winds are a key factor, shaping our coffee's distinctive characteristics. These winds carry fine mineral dust from the Sahara, cooling the air and enriching the lush landscape. Combined with volcanic origins, abundant minerals, the region's soil is a perfect home for heirloom arabica coffee. The deep rich soils are counterbalanced by steep topography, creating the perfect balance of soil drainage, and nutrient retention.

☀️ Latitude & Equatorial Climate: Unlike other coffee-growing regions that reach altitudes of nearly 10,000 feet, La Cordillera's highest points peak at around 4000 feet. Instead of relying solely on altitude, equatorial positioning delivers the same cool climate as higher elevations.

🌡️ Dramatic changes in temperature from night to day, known as diurnal temperature variation, provide an ideal environment for the development of complex flavors. The dramatic shifts impose stress on the plants, which triggers uptake of acids and other essential compounds, as a defense mechanism.

🌧️ We receive more precipitation than other areas due to orographic lifting, a process where moist air is forced to rise over the mountains, leading to cooling, condensation, and increased rainfall.

🌍 Cultural Connection: It’s not just nature that shapes our coffee. Our culture and traditions are woven through this industry. Coffee has been part of Puerto Rico's identity for over three centuries, and the wisdom of La Cordillera's inhabitants, passed down through generations, adds unique sense of place. In all great terroirs of the world, a distinctive regional culture always plays a vital role.

💪 Our aim is inclusive growth, empowerment of small-scale producers, and a renewed perception of our island's coffee—one that we can all proudly embrace.

With mother nature doing the heavy lifting, we seek to iterate and innovate, bringing you improved and novel sensory experiences.
