The harpsichord walked so the piano could run. 🏃‍♀️🎹

French harpsichords like this late-17th-century beauty filled royal courts and salons with shimmering sound long before the piano took center stage.

Hear it come alive with Boston Baroque this October 11&12 for Baroque Masterworks.

They thought they were getting a unique harpsichord solo… little did they know what it would lead into. 🇸🇪🎻

Could you guess the song before it started?

Happy World Opera Day! 🎭

At Boston Baroque, we believe opera is a living art form. Rooted in history but never confined by it, our productions bring centuries-old works to life through fresh perspectives, bold storytelling, and the extraordinary collaboration of singers, instrumentalists, and creative artists.

Our approach puts the orchestra on stage alongside the singers, recognizing the musicians as essential storytellers in the drama. Together, they create something that feels immediate, intimate, and deeply human.

From fully staged productions to concert performances, we’re proud to explore the many ways opera can move us, challenge us, and connect us across centuries.

Today, we celebrate the artists who make it possible and the enduring power of opera to tell stories that still matter.
