On Wednesday, September 30, join the @cityofboston for its third annual Deployables Day!

During this citywide training exercise, watch as at-risk property owners and organizations deploy temporary flood barriers designed to protect our neighborhoods from extreme storm surges and sea level rise.

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Martin's Park, 64 Sleeper Street
Chief Climate Officer Brian Swett and Chief of Planning Kairos Shen will lead a guided walking tour where participants can see different types of deployable flood barriers in action and observe a technical rescue drill led by the Boston Fire Department.

Can’t make the tour? All seven participating sites will have their deployable flood barriers on display until 3:00 PM.

We love our city. And we need to protect it. Over 40% of Boston residents live in areas that are at risk of coastal flooding, some over a mile away from the ocean. That’s why the City of Boston is partnering with @usacehq to protect our neighborhoods from sea-level rise and extreme weather.

Visit boston.gov/flood-prevention to read the draft plan, which includes coastal infrastructure projects in Charlestown, Dorchester, East Boston, the North End, South Boston, and Downtown. The deadline for sharing public comments on the draft plan is September 18, 2026. by @bostonenviro
