Hi, we’re the Boston Figure!!! Check out this post to learn some of the basics of who we are and what we hope to build with our community :)We’re just a group of creatives, who want to be around other creatives, and make everyone feel like a creative… We lean on each other in creative community, learn from one another, and make a space where ANYONE can exercise creativity. (Count the number of times we just said ‘creativity’)We have a lot going on - 10+ open figure drawing sessions per week, lots of community events, art workshops / multi-week classes, meet-ups, and more - and we keep our doors open through a membership system. “This is my Disney World.”“Boston Figure feels more like home than my bedroom.”“I don’t think I’ve laughed this much since my 12th birthday.”You guys sum up what the Boston Figure has become better than we can, but we’ll give it a try... What we’ve proven through this little experiment we call the Boston Figure is that creativity and community are both inseparable and essential. It can be hard and exhausting to make space for art in our society, and keeping this place up and running is no exception, but we are also reminded every day why it’s worth it. Every single day, with all of you, we experience the beauty of connection, curiosity, collaboration, and joy. We gather here to learn, to try, to fail, to laugh, to lean on each other. We feel encouraged to brainstorm, or brain rot, with people we may never have met elsewhere.This is the second summer we’ve had our garage door open, and it hasn’t been easy. But as fall approaches and we face the question of whether we can renew our lease, one thing is clear: the gratitude we feel is overwhelming. We’re constantly in awe of how Somerville has - how you all have - embraced us. And we are doing our very best to stick around for good :)We’re thankful for these brick walls, which have hosted hundreds of events (crazy to imagine, but true!), and for the - even crazier - thousands of people who have filled them with laughter, learning, and life. We’re proud of what we’ve built together—and we can’t wait to see what we continue to build together. There is space here for everyone! These are questions we get a lot so we thought we’d make a little guide for y’all!! More explanations below, but head to the linktree in bio to find the figure sessions calendar on our website!…FOR FIRST TIMERS: Tuesday Drawing Club, Sat/Sun Portrait Sessions• these are great for beginners because they offer a bit more guidance and instruction than our other sessions. They aren’t fully led, but you’ll get pointers and demos that will help you gain confidence when you draw!FOR A QUIETER EXPERIENCE: Wednesday Drawing as Meditation, Sunday Long Pose• If you’re the kind of person that dreads a haircut because you’re trapped chatting with someone for an hour straight, you’ll probably also like these. Still friendly, still welcoming, but tend to be a chill, less talkative vibe!CLOTHED SESSIONS: Sat/Sun Portrait Sessions, Monthly Costumed• Self-explanatory! Models will have clothes on in these sessions!FOR OIL PAINTING: Sunday month-long Pose• This is a hidden gem many people don’t realize happens here! The same model does the same pose 4 weeks in a row, so it’s great for if you want to fully resolve a figurative painting. by @bostonfigurecenter

Does membership REALLY save you money?……yyeeessss it doesFigure sessions alone make membership worth it financially, not to mention all of the other perks of being a BFAC member.
