Christmas present series:
This year I gifted my loved one’s paintings of plants that fit their character and being. I did this by feeling the defining characteristics of them themselves or my relationship to them and finding the plant which provides the same feeling or, anthropomorphizing it, has the same character.

I was lying last time (unintentionally), the last post wasn’t my last post about leafebruary! I still want to make a normal carousel, so here it is :)
This is an A4 page of my results of painting a leaf a day. This challenge really connected me to the Mediterranean flora around me. I recommend such a challenge to get out and look at your plants closely! I also love my botany terminology so it was fun finding the right words for each leaf.
If you want a print for around 25€, you can dm me :)

I also felt exhausted after a while, painting and editing every day :D my next a bit slower project will be painting birth flowers, I will be starting with the snowdrop for January!

Prunus padus, bird cherry, Gewöhnliche Traubenkirsche

Every month has its own birth flower. The cherry blossom is march’s birth flower. There are many cherry species and the bird cherry is one of them.
In the next videos I will paint it with watercolor and tell you more about this tree.

My first print ever ☺️
The wonderful @harrop.dot.art is the first person to ever buy a print from me! I am so happy and thank you so much for supporting my journey. She makes beautiful art herself so check her out!

I printed on five different papers with a German company and noticed that I didn’t notice too much of a major difference, except between shiny and matte paper. Also, I took way to thick cardboard to put the print in between, which resulted in the post office not being happy about sending it to New Zealand, because it did not look like a document. You are apparently only allowed to send documents as a letter to foreign countries. But they send it anyways and it went through ☺️ by @botanicaviridi

Viola odorata, sweet violet, Duft-Veilchen

Finished!

The pistil is the female reproduction organ, made up of the ovary (contains eggs), stigma (topmost part) and stylus (connects ovary and stigma). The sepals make up the calyx, the outermost leaflike structures around the petals. The stamen is the male reproduction organ producing pollen. It contains the anthers (producing pollen) and the filament (stalk).

This series is about birth flowers! Each month has a birth flower, most have two. I will draw the native birth flowers (to Germany and more Central European countries) of each month.

This sweet violet is Februarys birth flower! It is assigned to February, because it starts flowering early in the year (usually march in Germany, but so be it). The violet is said to symbolize modesty, faithfulness and love.

It growth at forest edges, in parks and at hedges. It has a richer violet color then violets flowering at the same time and slightly hairy leaves. Moreover, its flowers grow without any leaves at their stem. It only has two tiny bracts, which are in or higher then the middle of the flower stem.
