One blustery evening last week, Brian and I got together and recorded a little chat for the exquisite Lost Map podcast. Naturally, I made us wear papier maché headwear and talked relentlessly about my newest creation: The Hat Horn, modelled so divinely by Brian.

My podcast style is rudderless, it would seem. But thankfully Brian kept us in check and was able to inform you all of actual things we have done and are doing. Like making our debut album!

Give it a wee listen on this, another blustery autumnal night.

I really did try to take a photo of our record in the nice light this morning illustrating that it is Bandcamp Friday and you can get it from Lost Map’s Bandcamp page. Unfortunately though Ellis just would not let me.

Your copy comes paw print free 100% guaranteed or your money back.

Fondly recollecting our time making this record. From the very first scratch demos, to getting proper vocal takes down with beloved engineer chum Robyn Dawson, and then mixing it in stages at Knockwood Studio with Jolon. Part of the process happened while I was very pregnant, and part of it with a little baby squirming about amongst all the cables, drooling into the reel-to-reel.

So grateful to these guys for all their input. To Robyn, for always pushing towards that perfect vocal take and not accepting my "that'll do because I'm tired", and to Jolon, for always pushing to put everything onto tape, and creating such a beautiful studio.

We've had a whole week of 𝘉𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘈 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘐𝘯 𝘈 𝘔𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘺 - the phenomenal debut album from synth pop rascals @bothhands_music. And this photo goes some way to capture how it makes us feel.

If, like us, you've been waking in the middle of the night to find yourself deep in your nearest forest, bathed in moonlight, and contemplating how one might become more like a mountain - then the cure is at hand, my friends.

BLAMIAMW is streaming now.

Come celebrate with us at the band's matinee launch party at the Fruitmaket Gallery in Edinburgh. I imagine you'll be encouraged to put both hands in the air at some point.

Thank you so much to The Skinny.

We individually and together owe you a huge debt of gratitude for your support over the years. You’ve been a bedrock of grassroots cultural journalism in Scotland, and we’ve benefitted so much from your kind words and your championing of what we do.

We love this review. Not least for the company you’ve placed us in, but especially for “an absolute absence of artifice.” The references are a joy, but being recognised as having something of our own MAKES US HAPPIER STILL.

Thank you ❤️🌙⛰️ by @bothhands_music

Big thanks to all of you who have already listened to our album, shared it and sent us kind messages - it all means so much after the work and time which went into this record.

However you listen, online engagement means so much in today’s algorithm centric world so any saves, likes or playlist adds on whatever streaming service you use could make a big difference helping us reach a wider audience and would be much appreciated!

Speaking of which, we have some news on our first shows outside of Scotland to share very soon… 🚐💨 taken in Good Vibes Neighbourhood Store by @bothhands_music

A few picks from a little trip down to Good Vibes yesterday where we got our eyes on the finished copies of our record for the first time!

If you’re in Edinburgh and after a copy this weekend then our good friends at @goodvibesleith and @voxboxmusic should have a copy with more shops to follow in the next few days.

Big thanks to @okitsaimee for helping us out with this little photoshoot and check out @itslaurameek’s lovely pics on the front and back!
