This was inspired by one of those moments, when you look up and see your surroundings with the new eyes of a stranger - from an outward gaze on your carefully curated environment.

The wall above my desk, where I work, paint, write, and dream is also the wall that I fall asleep to. It has been in my life for as long as I have been in this life. I’d put up art and words that inspired me, if one were to run a montage of this wall, they would see it morph through the years. A mosaic reflection of my life, and growing years.

At some point I started putting my own art up on the wall too, I don’t plan it, I don’t colour coordinate it. It is an automatism. And sometimes, my eye becomes the stranger’s eye. I see it as a cohesive whole. I see my art, and the art that inspires me. I see recurring colour motifs in what I create and in what I take in. Another automatism?

I don’t know what came first for me, art that inspires, or some innate attraction towards certain colours that made me seek out these pieces in the first place.

A big irony in all of this is that I think I’ve always been attracted to hues of red. It was my favourite colour as a child, and I see hints of it in every piece of art I own.
Maybe it is just confirmation bias, maybe not.

Orange & The Dog | April’24
Based on a true story 👀 🍊 🐶

Last year in Seville, on a late sun-filled afternoon, as I sat down to lunch outside, I noticed a small dog who was rejoicing in the abundance of oranges and orange trees in the crowded market lane (they were really everywhere 🌳 🍊!)

He was joyously running back and forth to an orange tree, much to my delight (and everyone around him!).
It took me a few minutes to notice that there was an orange in his mouth! 🐶 🍊 😆

He would run to the tree, grab one of the fallen oranges at the bottom, run back to his human, and to the tree again. He kept this up for the next subsequent trees until out of sight, picking a different orange each time. 🥹

I suppose he thought the orange was a ball to play fetch with, which is hilarious (especially because he was running back to the human), or maybe he really liked the taste of oranges! 😋 What do you think?

Background
The painting I used as background for this animation was inspired by a different orange tree in another (smaller) square, also in Seville.

Carving away. One petal at a time, it is slow but rewarding work. It takes a toll on my spine, but calms my mind. I find the quiet and gentle scratching sounds very comforting, like pencil on paper but somehow even better!

I did not think it would take this long, but I’m loving the process 🌸

A “suggested reel” by Instagram. Slow days during lockdown in france, stuck for days at my workplace which happened to be a high school. I will forever be grateful for its playground! <3

I painted, picnicked 🧺, played badminton, went out for midnight walks to look at the stars in those grounds.

Life was a surreal combination of fear and pensiveness which one only experiences when life comes to a halt so suddenly and so completely. by @bottledblue

Details of the night scene in Paris from A Moveable Feast. Ive had to take a break from this collection, but im now gearing up to get back to it.

Meanwhile here is an appreciation video. Looking back at the process, details of this series is highly inspiring.

It feeds on what it becomes, a positive loop. 💙

Early afternoons from my desk 💆‍♀️

When I’m out of ideas, I often look at some of the photo books I have for inspiration (most of them picked up from @alliancefrdelhi ‘s library). This hidden table in the middle of a home garden in Provence made me smile, i hope to have a warm and lovely space like this one day 🪴💙
