A lovely tall and red piece with TWO fiery butterflies -- perfect for the @noveltypot FIRE Showcase at Color Club Sunday evening!!! ❤️🔥 Though the Numberwing butterfly on top stands out well, the blood red C. sangaris on the bottom blends into the flowers! 🌸 Such fun specimens to work with!

Been under the weather recently, so haven't had a lot of energy or time to make much. 😷 But this lovely Blue Bottle butterfly with stained glass window wings was worth the wait! 🩵🦋

This one feels SO summery to me ☀️🩵 A lovely combo of yellow and blue as referenced by the stunning Polyura jupiter butterfly specimen on top 🦋✨️ And of course I had to throw in a little jewel beetle for company!

On that note, I am SO excited to announce that I will be vending at the upcoming @noveltypot FIRE Showcase, held at Color Club on August 30th 🔥🔥🔥 Come through and support myself and other incredible queer artists and performers, and have an all around fabulous time!!!

The second I finished my jar of chili oil I knew it was to turn into a little terrarium for someone special! ❤️🌸🪲 And indeed this STUNNING red-and-green beetle was the perfect match!!!

The jar itself has a flower design on the bottom similar to the five-petaled red silk flowers I chose for this composition. And with a shard of petrified wood, moss, and dried yellow blossoms, this piece came together nicely :)

See this piece and more at the Artist Market happening August 16th at @loavesandwitches in Chicago!!! The date is fast approaching; can't wait to see everyone! 🎉

A sunny Longwing butterfly duo in their golden buttercup sanctuary 💛🧡☀️ Silk and dried flowers, moss, and a bendy twig all enclosed in a peanut butter jar!

The butterfly with orange forewings (in the first photo) is actually a hybrid between two Heliconius species (unspecified in the data), which is so very fascinating to see!!! No matter how many specimens I work with, there are always very lovely surprises to discover :)

See this sweet display at the fabulous Artist Market hosted by @loavesandwitches THIS WEEK, August 16th, from 10am-4pm in Chicago!!!

Saved this exquisite beetle for an especially unique display, and I hope this one's done its wine-colored elytra justice! 🌸💕❤️🪲 Once again, all of the florals used in this piece are real, pressed, and dried, from the pink carnation petals in front to the lovely bougainvillea leaves in the back! And of course I had to give this big ol' beetle an iridescent fly friend to go on top :)

This piece and more will be at the Artist Market hosted by @loavesandwitches on August 16th, from 10am - 4pm in Chicago! ✨️ Stop by to see LOTS of beautiful handmade work by local artists!!!

My favorite season is CICADA SEASON!!!! 💚💚💚 There are so very many Annual Dogday Cicadas singing all over the city, and lots of cicada shells to find :) It's like a scavenger hunt for us bug lovers 🪲

Enjoy this little display with a cicada shell and foraged adult cicada, accompanied by dried moss, blossoms, twigs, and acorns per usual! It's nice to be able to work on some insect terrariums again after a long week of work 😊

ALSO!!!!! I'm so delighted to be a part of the Artist Market hosted by @loavesandwitches in Chicago!!! Come by on August 16th, 10am-4pm, to see tons of amazing work by local artists 🌸💕

(I'll make an OFFICIAL post later but I wanted to get the word out as soon as I could!!! I'm so excited to be a part of it!)
