We had the most incredible experience at Fairmont Mayakoba! 🌴🍃

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning beauty of the resort, especially the lush mangrove jungle that envelops the casitas. The feeling of being immersed in this tropical haven, with serene canals home to baby crocodiles and turtles, and crystal-clear waters, creates an unforgettable escape into nature’s paradise.

Our room blended luxury with comfort, offering breathtaking views and top-tier amenities that made us feel completely pampered. Whether we were relaxing in a cabana by the pool, indulging the many restaurants, or biking on the various pathways, every moment was designed to make us feel rejuvenated. The resort’s attention to detail and exceptional service made our stay unforgettable.

This was the centrepiece of our trip to Nairobi, the Masai Mara safari! We booked our 3-day safari with the highly rated Axis Safari.
🦁 🐘 🦒 🐆 🦛

Day 1: We drove through the spectacular Great Rift Valley that spans from Lebanon to Mozambique. The views from the road that traces the cliffs of the valley were amazing, so don’t snooze too much on the way there! We stopped to explore the various shops on top of the cliff for some souvenir shopping and some Kenyan tea. Then we continued on the road to Masai Mara. Our driver (Amazing Jack) decided on taking a lesser traveled road through villages and scenic nature. We arrived at Jambo Mara Safari Lodge and were welcomed with a 3 course lunch accompanied with excellent service. Then we got back on the jeep and did a half day game drive where we saw giraffes and a pride of lions feasting on a freshly hunted buffalo. We also saw antelopes, elephants and looked for Yasin’s favorite animal, the cheetah🐆

Day 2: We woke up at dawn to have breakfast and hit the road bright and early to start our full day game drive. We were able to visit the same pride of lions still eating the water buffalo. Our Driver Jack brought us to other spots within the reserve where we saw elephants with their babies, giraffes, hyenas, hippos, and crocodiles. We where able to catch a glimpse of 2 cheetahs but they were a bit far away. We will just have to come back another time! Around lunch time, our driver found a quiet spot to stop and eat the lunch he had arranged to be packed for us. We were blessed with the presence of a solitary bull elephant walking nearby. It was breathtaking!

Day 3: We had yet another awesome breakfast and said bye to the park as we headed back to Nairobi.

It was a trip to remember and increased our appetite to do another safari in the future. If you’ve never considered to book a safari adventure, we strongly recommend it, even if you aren’t the most outdoorsy traveller. The raw beauty of the valley along with seeing the animals in their natural habitat will case you to fall in love with the adventure.

We aren’t done with you, Maasai Mara…🦓🐆🦏🦒🐊

We still talk about you almost every day. The feeling of being inside the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by its tall escarpments, teeming with animals that roam freely as if knowing that the Valley was made for them.

We’ll never forget the feeling in our stomachs when a lion looked directly into our eyes, the thrill of finally spotting the elusive cheetah, or feeling the ground rumble as wildebeest made their way toward the river.

God willing, we’ll be back. And next time, we’ll have our little guy with us so he can experience some of what made this place so special to us.

Sleep training has been life changing for our family 😴 💤

Within just a few days of the gentle sleep training program that @sleepgoals_diana coached us through, we were already seeing huge improvements. His naps became easier and more consistent, and his overnight sleep became longer and much less interrupted. Oh and no more contact naps needed 🙌🏽

We were SO nervous and hesitant to start. We kept putting it off, wondering if it was the right thing for our little guy. But his sleep had become so interrupted that we started worrying he simply wasn’t getting enough of it.

What this process taught us was that he deserved the chance to try. And in his case, he surprised us.

The biggest difference is seeing him wake up happier and rested, with plenty of energy to play and stress out his parents 😂. As a bonus we both get to sleep 7+ hours 🙂‍↕️

Getting more uninterrupted, restorative sleep for him was always the goal, and seeing that happen made all those nerves at the beginning worth it.

There’s SO much information about baby sleep online, but having a sleep coach assess our situation, build a plan around our family, and be there to check in as we worked through it was incredibly helpful, especially when the nerves were fried.

If your little one’s sleep is constantly interrupted or they’re struggling to link sleep cycles, we’d recommend reaching out to @sleepgoals_diana for support!

My whole world, right here!!

Also, we never expected lavender to have this effect on our little guy 💜

He’s usually not one to nap in the stroller, but I swear the scent of fresh lavender and the constant hum of bees, he was much calmer and slept almost the entire time. It gave us a chance to slow down and enjoy the farm ourselves.

If you’re planning a visit to @kelsolavender, here are a few tips:
• Get there early. We arrived on a weekday morning, and it got busy within an hour of opening.
• Spend the extra to pick your own lavender. Our house smelled incredible for days.
• Wear comfortable shoes. The farm is surprisingly hilly, and it’s worth walking the entire property.
