CAMPUS TO CORPORATE | This week we hosted the Johannesburg edition of our Campus-to-Corporate programme where we welcomed a group of our newly signed candidate legal practitioners to our office in the City of Gold. This initiative is designed to help aspiring lawyers gain a deeper understanding of what life at Bowmans is all about, from the meaningful work we do to the collaborative culture that defines us. Throughout the week, they had the opportunity to immerse themselves in our culture, gain a deeper understanding of the legal profession and build meaningful connections with their peers and future colleagues.

EVENT | We were delighted to host our inaugural Deans’ Breakfast in Kenya, bringing together leading legal academics and practitioners for an engaging roundtable discussion on “Bridging the Gap Between Law School and Practice.” The discussion brought together representatives from universities across Kenya, including Dr. Kenneth Kodiyo, Dr. Dennis Ndambo, Prof Hassan Nandwa, Dr. Jane Wathuta, Dr. Victor Lando, Mike Mutonyi , Phionah Uhuru, Prof Nicholas Orago, Evelyne Asaala, Dr. Charles Ouma, and Kelly Malenya .

Representing Bowmans were members of the Pupillage Committee: Aleem Tharani, Christina Nduba-Banja, Ciru Longden and Cecilia Milanda, alongside Philip Coulson, Dominic Indokhomi, Samson Mugeria and Alex Mailu. The breakfast provided a valuable platform to exchange insights, strengthen collaboration between academia and legal practice, and explore ways to better prepare future lawyers for the profession. EVENT | Bowmans had the honour of welcoming learners from Maritzburg College for an afternoon filled of meaningful conversations, insightful reflections and an engaging panel discussion. The session gave learners an opportunity to hear first-hand about different journeys that have shaped people’s careers at #Bowmans. Our panel featured Alan Keep, Jared Allen, James Westgate, Nseula Chilikhuma and Mongezi Dladla, with AmandlakaThixo (Amandla) Magubane as our facilitator.

The conversation was was complemented by valuable insights from Lerato Thahane who shared her own experiences and words of encouragement with the learners. CLASSROOM TO CAREERS | We are proud to have collaborated with the @trevornoahfoundation for our Classroom to Careers initiative, giving learners the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and gain first-hand exposure to real-world professional environments.
