Gentrification, climate change, a sense of belonging, social dis-ease. Open dialogues, questions asked and repeated that no one will ever answer.

It’s fascinating to see where your beliefs can take you despite the various “you buy too many snkrs,” “you waste your money” and so on.

Rationally, these are all good advices but, fortunately, there is nothing rational about this.

It’s fun. It’s culture.

And, for sure, it’s not just sneakers.

“I rapper. Sanremo. Chi sono questi?. Come rovinare un festival. Simili soggetti in fiera.”

Soliti pregiudizi, i soliti due pesi e due misure. I “commentatori seriali” e i critici professionisti avevano già emesso la sentenza.

Eppure, la realtà racconta un’altra storia.

Sono tre anni che il Festival procede lungo la propria strada. È un percorso fatto di investimenti e scommesse su realtà nuove, capaci di parlare i linguaggi della cultura urban, aprendo le porte ad artisti, realtà sportive e community diverse, riuscendo così a connettersi con il suo pubblico più giovane e pop.

La risposta del pubblico e l’ingresso di nuovi partner consolidano questa visione, confermando che il percorso intrapreso sta portando risultati.

Il grazie più grande va ai ragazzi: quelli sotto il palco dell’Arena che cantavano ogni parola, quelli in coda per Caparezza, quelli che attendevano per un selfie o quelli che volevano solo pariare.

Sulla carta sembrano mondi lontani, eppure eravate tutti lì, insieme.

Curare la cultura urban oggi significa narrare un ecosistema fatto di linguaggi multipli e una forte identità sociale ma, contemporaneamente, anche riuscire a rappresentare un mondo in continua evoluzione.
Questa resta, ed è, la vera sfida che ogni anno si presenta.

L’edizione passata di COMICON ha segnato un punto di svolta fondamentale: l’area dedicata alla Urban Culture è passata da scommessa a realtà dirompente, dimostrando quanto sia necessaria la connessione tra il festival e questo movimento.

Manca poco a questa nuova edizione e avremo modo di analizzare se il lavoro fatto avrà centrato l’obiettivo di puntare più in alto.
