We have been outside of the Target store for 3 months (and counting) encouraging people to not take a step inside of Target and encouraging them to go elsewhere. Besides having a list of Black brands on our website, which we encourage to buy directly from the vendor, many ask where else to shop.

This small guide will give some suggestions but is not an exhaustive list, which we hope to build out in the next few months.

We encourage you to support your local small businesses, farmer’s markets and mutual aid networks.

This Black Friday weekend, WE AIN’T BUYING IT!🎯

Community members and activists from DC and beyond came out to let Target know that their rolling back of DEI policies that hurt black businesses and consumers will not stand without a response.

Pastor @jamalhbryant told a large crowd outside the store on Saturday morning that a new civil rights movement is building and ground zero is right here in Washington, D.C.

After 36 weeks of the boycott, Target is feeling the pressure with foot traffic and online sales down and company stock taking a hit on the market during one of the most profitable times of the year for retail businesses.

Speakers at the rally also called for the continued boycott of Starbucks, Amazon, and Home Depot. @freedcproject has created a list of 50 plus local DC businesses to buy from instead on their website:

@doordash messed up.

Withdrawing their support for a vicious attack on our communities is a good first step but it’s far from enough. We continue to demand the company denounce ICE’s violence that is affecting their drivers and communities across the country, and to state publicly that Trump’s “DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force” should end.

Until then it’s #DeleteDoorDash every day and tell your friends that organizing works. by @boycotttargetdc

"ICE's treatment of Wilber thus far has amounted to torture." — @joaquincastrotx

@doordash is a $15 billion company. Fifteen BILLION dollars in revenue in the last 12 months. The company's CEO Tony Xu could pick up the phone and demand Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez get the medical attention he needs and deserves — but he hasn't.

Yesterday ICE shot Wilber Rafael Garces Perez in Austin, TX while he worked as a delivery driver for @doordash.

This is far from the first time @doordash’s workers and the communities they serve have experienced violence from this regime yet the company continues to be silent and complicit. On top of that, they worked with MAGA Republicans in Congress this year to try to strip away power from DC even while we are under ongoing occupation.

We call on people of conscience to #DeleteDoorDash until the company issues a public statement against ICE, rescinds its support for HR 9720, and calls for Trump’s occupation agents to leave DC. Doing Back-to-School shopping? Put your dollars toward companies on the side of our communities, not the regime.

Calls for boycott are still in place against @amazon, which is profiting off ICE detention, and @target, which rolled back DEI practices and remained silent as ICE attacked their hometown of Minneapolis.

They not only lifted up George Floyd’s name, but the countless other names who had their lives taken way too soon by the state, in addition to those in P*lestine.
