Several Friday afternoon, 09/25, trains on NJ Transit’s Bergen & Main lines were delayed as much as 35 minutes due to a downed tree just west of Transit’s Ridgewood station that blocked all three (3) tracks. NJ Transit PD officers responded along with NJ Transit Rail Operations personnel to clear the downed tree. No injuries nor property damage was reported in the incident. taken in Ridgewood, New Jersey by @boydaloving

Midland Park PD, Midland Park EMS, and Midland Park FD personnel & units responded to aid a driver whose older model SUV plowed into a historic building on Greenwood Avenue, Midland Park, early Friday morning, 09/25. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by a Midland Park EMS ambulance to The Valley Hospital. A “mechanical failure” was cited as a contributing factor to the crash. Damage to the historic building, a former railroad station, forced its electric power to be shut down by Midland Park firefighters. A teacher at Fair Lawn’s Lyncrest Elementary School was on his/her way home after classes ended on Tuesday afternoon, 09/22, and was struck in the head with a paintball that entered the front driver’s side window as he/she was driving southbound on River Road, Fair Lawn, just around the corner from the school. The teacher immediately returned to school property and called Fair Lawn PD. Patrol units immediately canvassed the area and determined that the attack occurred near 4-XX River Road, while Fair Lawn PD Detective Bureau officers collected photographic evidence from the vehicle and the victim, who was apparently uninjured in the attack. An investigation to determine who the attackers were, and whether the teacher was the victim of a random or targeted attack, is now underway. taken in Fair Lawn, New Jersey by @boydaloving

A Chevrolet Blazer and a Jeep Wrangler collided at the intersection of Fair Lawn Avenue and 4th Street, Fair Lawn at approximately 3 PM on Tuesday afternoon, 09/22. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene. No injuries were reported in the collision. Unfortunately, a Mercedes SUV parked near the intersection sustained collateral damage during the collision. Fortunately though, damage to the Mercedes didn’t warrant it being towed. Two (2) traffic control signs were toppled in the incident, but were quickly attended to by a Fair Lawn DPW employee. The driver of a white colored, 4-door, Mercedes C300 and his/her adult passenger were captured by Paramus PD officers within minutes after the vehicle crashed on Winters Avenue, Paramus; this just after the Mercedes’ driver attempted to run over a Paramus PD police officer on Route 17 near the Garden State Plaza, early Friday afternoon, 09/18. Both suspects ran from the Mercedes after it jumped a curb, crossed over a sidewalk, and barrelled down an embankment before stopping just six (6) feet away from slamming into the Oradell Animal Hospital facility. Paramus PD units flooded the area and quickly apprehended both individuals. Police at the scene would not say whether the vehicle had been reported stolen, but were observed removing several shopping bags from the wrecked vehicle’s passenger compartment, which may have been indicative that the occupants were fleeing from a shoplifting incident. A flatbed tow truck winched the C300 up the embankment and away from the scene, the reported destination was Paramus PD’s headquarters. The driver of a black colored 4-door Hyundai Accent fled on foot from the scene of a head on, two (2) vehicle, Wednesday morning, 09/16, crash in the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue, Hawthorne, but was quickly captured by Hawthorne PD patrol officers on the Boulevard in nearby Glen Rock. An ambulance was dispatched to render aid to the injured suspect (a minor arm injury), who reportedly had an active warrant for a traffic offense in another municipality. He/she was taken into custody by Hawthorne PD officers after being treated on location. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, a Volkswagen SUV, was uninjured. Both vehicles were towed from the scene; a portion of Lincoln Avenue was closed until the vehicles were removed. A mechanical issue may have been the reason why a small Mazda SUV suddenly reversed and crashed into a fence & gate at Ridgewood High School on Monday morning, 09/14, as its driver was trying to park. A bicycle(s) may also have been damaged in the crash along with a fence & gate. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the mishap and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Traffic on Route 17 northbound through Ridgewood was slowed on Monday morning, 09/14, as a result of a potentially dangerous tree hanging over the roadway just north of the West Saddle River Road exit. Ridgewood PD Patrol Division units and NJDOT shut the right travel lane and shoulder while Village of Ridgewood Division of Shade Tree employees assessed the issue. The driver and lone passenger of a black-colored SUV partially submerged in water on McBride Avenue, Fair Lawn were rescued by members of the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad on Sunday morning, 09/13. An inflatable boat was deployed by Rescue Squad members to facilitate safe operations. Both adults were uninjured in the incident. Fair Lawn PD patrol units and Fair Lawn FD supervisory personnel assisted in the operation. Waldwick PD issued one (1) crash related summons in connection with a Saturday morning, 09/05, rollover collision at the intersection of Nordham Street and Waldwick Avenue, Waldwick. A Honda SUV flipped onto its roof after being struck by a Subaru SUV whose driver had allegedly disregarded a stop sign. The Honda’s driver, who sustained non-life threatening injuries, was transported to The Valley Hospital by a Waldwick EMS ambulance. No other injuries were reported.
