It was an honor to receive an invitation extended by Vice President @kamalaharris and her team after reviewing my resume, my work, and the impact I’ve been building. Moments like this are earned long before they arrive through consistency, credibility, and a commitment to service.

In 2019, I was a 15-year-old watching an exceptionally qualified Black woman step onto the national stage with clarity and conviction. “Kamala Harris for the People” was not just a campaign phrase. It reflected how she had already lived her career. From the courtroom to public office, she made clear who she believed leadership was meant to serve. I believed her then. I believe her still.

Even at that age, I understood the reality of this country. A nation shaped by racial hierarchy, systemic inequality, unequal access to opportunity, and freedoms distributed by design rather than fairness. That understanding did not harden me. It sharpened me. It showed me why representation matters and why leadership rooted in justice is nonnegotiable.

That clarity helped guide my work, including the founding of @project_smiless, and continues to shape my involvement in fellowships, campaigns, and advocacy centered on service and accountability.

Deep gratitude to my mentor, @tk_webster, who assisted me throughout this entire process and made that day possible. Your guidance, belief, and investment continues to open doors and sharpen my purpose.

Vice President Harris, thank you for the conversation, the affirmation, and the reminder of what leadership grounded in service looks like.

God does not call the qualified. He qualifies those He calls.🇺🇸

Psalm 27:13 says, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”

I have officially graduated from Alabama State University.

Some places don’t just hold memories. They shape who you become!

Last week, I was back on Capitol Hill, but this time, not as a legislative intern. I returned as an advocate, carrying the voices of the communities we serve.

Project Smiles met with members of Congress to advocate against voter suppression and discuss the urgent need to protect every American’s freedom to vote.

One message was clear: Congress must pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. This legislation would restore and strengthen key protections of the Voting Rights Act, help prevent discriminatory changes to election laws, increase transparency in election administration, and strengthen federal oversight where voting rights violations have occurred.

At Project Smiles, we believe democracy is strongest when every eligible voter can participate freely and fairly. Protecting the right to vote is about more than Election Day. It is about ensuring every voice is heard and every community has equal access to the ballot.

It was also so great catching up with a few members of my LIVE 55 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation cohort. My heart was full! It is amazing to see where life has taken each of us. We may all be serving in different spaces, but we are united by the same commitment to SERVICE.

Grateful for the opportunity to continue advocating for a democracy that is accessible, equitable, and worthy of the people it serves! taken in Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. by @br7son

The primary is over, but the assignment still stands! Grateful to be at the first post-primary rally as we put our hands to the plow and do the work of re-electing @senossoff back to the US Senate and electing @keishaforga as Georgia’s and America’s first Black woman governor.

Chief of Staff Powers is officially signing off! 🙏🏽

I officially signed out as Chief of Staff for the Student Government Association at Alabama State University, closing a chapter that has truly shaped me both professionally and personally. Serving during the 2025–2026 academic year has been one of the greatest honors of my undergraduate experience.

As Chief of Staff, I supported the daily operations of SGA by working closely with executive committees and committee chairs to ensure structure, communication, and workflow ran effectively. My focus was always on making sure the organization had the support needed to operate at a high level.

One of the most meaningful parts of my service was leading the freshman intern program, where I focused on leadership development, professionalism, resume building, interview preparation, and introducing students to public policy and civic engagement.

As the founder of Project Smiles, it was powerful to merge my passion for civic engagement with student development, and watching students grow in confidence and leadership was a highlight of my experience.

Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this journey. Special thank you to President Trotman and Vice President Davis for trusting me in this role.

Forever grateful. Forever proud to serve.

“For such a time as this.” — Esther 4:14

For such a time as this, we must remember what it meant for them to walk across that bridge. When they walked across that bridge, truth was at stake. Justice was at stake. The very humanity of Black people was at stake. They walked knowing the danger. They walked knowing the violence that could meet them. Yet they walked anyway… because silence was not an option and dignity was not negotiable.

For such a time as this, we must understand what their courage demanded of this nation. Their steps forced America to confront what it had tried to deny: that democracy cannot exist where people are beaten for demanding the right to vote, and justice cannot live where humanity is treated as disposable.

And for such a time as this, we must recognize where we stand today. The work they risked their lives for is not finished. The struggle for voting rights, dignity, and truth continues in new forms and new battles.

They marched in their time. Now the torch is in our hands. For such a time as this, we must carry it forward! “I Don’t Feel Noways Tired!”
