Christmas is coming.
If you’re looking for a meaningful gift for the seeker in your life, consider my memoir, Into the Soul of the World.

My friend and former colleague, bestselling author Hampton Sides, wrote:

“As a far-flung journalist and celebrated editor, Brad Wetzler has led the very definition of an adventurous life, but in Into the Soul of the World, he gives an unflinching account of his interior adventures. Wetzler’s soulful quest, by turns anguished and transcendent, will resonate with readers around the world who struggle to find purpose and a sense of the holy in the ambient jitter of the digital age.”

If someone you love is navigating change, seeking clarity, or trying to live with more truth and soul, this book might meet them where they are.

Writing the Heart is a writing practice built around storytelling, self-discovery, and bringing your lived experience to the page.

Some people come to write memoir.
Others come for a deeper relationship with themselves.
Both belong here.

You do not need to be polished or certain.
You only need the willingness to show up honestly and begin.

I’m hosting a free writing workshop on Wednesday, October 7th at 11 a.m.
Come see what it’s like to be part of this community.

It’s not about books or even sentences. It’s not even about the writing itself.

The practice of writing for yourself—as we do in my Writing the Heart practice and community—is about opening your heart and allowing more of yourself to come forth—on the page…and then in your life.

Sound grandiose?

It’s not.

I’ve lived it—and I’ve witnessed it in the members of my Writing the Heart communities.

This is real—as real as the coffee mug in my hand right now. As real as the first rays of sun on a clear blue morning feel on your face.

Have you experienced anything like this?

My next Writing the Heart community and experience begins October 20.

Writing the Heart Boulder Immersion is in the books…and, damn, my heart is full. Thank you to all who traveled, wrote, snd shared your hearts. And a special thanks to beautiful Pat, who graced us with her beautiful heart and soul this morning at brunch. A true Queen was in the house. by @bradwetzler

What an incredible day of heart and writing. ✍️ ♥️ by @bradwetzler

Love these humans: Gayle, Andrea (with Lance), Leslie, Bernadette, and Janie. They all traveled from afar for tomorrow’s Writing the Heart Boulder Immersion. For most of us, tonight was our very first time meeting in person rather than over Zoom! We grabbed drinks at the Hotel Boulderado and dinner at the Dushanbe Tea House for a truly fun, memorable evening.

These are my kind of people—grappling with their stories, with grief, and with meaning, yet finding so much laughter and joy together. by @bradwetzler

Happy heavenly birthday, dear Andrea.

Big love always. ♥️ by @bradwetzler

A big weekend of teaching! 📝✨

Today, I had the absolute honor of being a guest teacher at author and speaker extraordinaire Mimi Hayes’ "Write Your Damn Book" three-day writing retreat in beautiful Evergreen, Colorado. 🌲🏔️

We dove deep into the craft of memoir writing, exploring what it takes to bring personal stories to life. After discussing technique, I shared prompts inspired by Suleika Jaouad’s incredible memoir, Between Two Kingdoms. 📖📖

Then came the magic. We dedicated 20 minutes to pure, uninterrupted writing, followed by reading our work out loud.

The results? Astoundingly beautiful writing that left everyone inspired.

Thank you so much to Mimi and the entire crew. It was an absolute joy! ♥️

Tomorrow? Writing the Heart One-Day Immersion in Boulder!

Find Your People. Tell Your Story.

I started Writing the Heart on Zoom as a space for writers and non-writers alike to explore their lives through storytelling.
Since then, it has grown into its own beautiful, living thing. Honestly, my favorite part has been getting out of the way. The magic isn't in my teaching anymore. It is in the incredible people who show up to love, hold space, and support each other every single week. It sounds simple, but it is pure love.
And this weekend, we are finally bringing that magic in-person for a special one-day immersion right here in Boulder.
We have 5 amazing members flying in from out of town to meet up with 7 of our local Denver and Boulder crew. The very first traveler arrived tonight, and it was so wonderful grabbing dinner with Gayle Vickery Pritchard and hitting up some local favorites like Trident and the Boulder Book Store.
My heart is so full. Let the fun, the community, and the writing begin. ♥️ by @bradwetzler

Hey friends,

Just a heads up that my memoir, Into the Soul of the World, is currently $1.99 on Kindle.

I wrote this for anyone who has ever lived outside their own body due to trauma—seeing no way out except to burn their life down and rebuild from the ground up.

This book is the raw truth of my journey from an Outside magazine adventure writer to utter exhaustion and collapse under a crushing over-medication of 23 psych pills a day. It maps my battle to break free, and eventually, finding profound spiritual healing in the holy temples of India.

It’s not just a travelogue—it's an inner roadmap for navigating mental health, prescription dependency, and finding purpose. If you’ve been meaning to read it or want to gift it to a fellow seeker, it’s a great time to grab it.

A Ritual of Belonging and Authenticity in a Noisy World ✍️✨

Drop the pressure, pick up a pen, and join our next writing circle starting October 27.

If you’re a seeker—someone looking for ways to stay anchored, present, and true to yourself—you know that belonging doesn’t just happen. It’s cultivated through daily practice.

Writing is a powerful doorway to connection and a sacred space to listen deeply to what’s rising inside. As Joan Didion wrote: "I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking, what I’m looking at, what I see and what it means."

That continuous practice of self-discovery is at the heart of Writing the Heart.

Here is how our sessions flow:
🌱 Grounding & Inspiration: Meditation, check-in, short reading & prompts.
✍️ Focused Writing (20 Mins): Write freely without worrying about perfection.
🤍 Warm Sharing & Reflection: Read aloud if you wish in a supportive, critique-free space (sharing is always optional).

If you feel called to cultivate this transformative space in your life, a new eight-week section begins October 27! by @bradwetzler

It was a fun evening celebrating my friend Stephen Collector and his fine book, No Do-Overs in Paradise. And what a sweet independent bookstore in Denver’s West Side Books. Congrats, Stephen. by @bradwetzler
