I started writing this book in September of 2023 where during this time, I was an 18 year old kid who was new to New York, keeping a journal and a book on me at all time. The specific moment where this idea of a book came about was on a random street in lower manhattan, I was talking to a new friend of mine and we were sharing stories and creative ideas. The words “someday I want to write a book” came out of my mouth. This cringeworthy feeling pierced my soul, someday? I hated that word. That night I went home and started writing the novel that I’ve had in my head. Though that novel is yet done, during this time of exploration, I started writing in that journal I carried around. Writing thoughts, feelings, entries, and all of the above. Multiple journals followed me around for the next few years of my life. Being by my side as I figure out love, mental health, and change. Along with my journal by my side, a camera rested around my shoulder, also documenting this period of my life. This book, my journals, my cameras, caught my 18 year old, 19 year old, and 20 year old self. Now it’s time for you to peer into this crazy transitional period of my life!

This book isn’t about making something great or perfect, but about making something exist. Where expression meets vulnerability. It’s an understatement to say this is the most vulnerable project I’ve ever created. It’s even more of an understatement to say it’s the most important.
