Building a life we love!

Thank you @mandyenman for being the best partner! by @bradyenman_

Sometimes the most expensive financial decision is the one you make without understanding the consequences.

I recently had a conversation with an existing client who was considering canceling a life insurance policy he'd had for several years.

The policy provides permanent life insurance coverage for his wife costing less than $70 a month. Any amount above that goes toward the cash value of the policy. Over time, it accumulated more than $7,000 in cash value.

Here's what makes this conversation important.

Canceling the policy could mean surrender charges that significantly reduce the amount received. Depending on the policy's cost basis and tax status, there could also be tax consequences.

But there's another side to the decision.

The policy provides more than just a death benefit. It has accumulated cash value that may offer access to funds through policy loans, potential supplemental retirement income, and a way to leave a legacy for their children.

That doesn't automatically mean keeping the policy is the right decision. Every financial product needs to be evaluated based on the family's needs, budget, and long-term goals.

But before walking away from something you've spent years building, make sure you understand what you're walking away from.

The lesson: Don't cancel a financial product simply because you don't fully understand its value. Understand the costs, benefits, alternatives, and consequences first.

That's what financial education is all about. by @bradyenman_

Getting into debt is easy. Getting out isn't always so simple.

Debt settlement may offer a way forward, but understand the risks, fees, credit impact, and potential tax consequences before making a decision.

AI might not take your job. But someone who knows how to solve problems that AI can't might take your place.

Here's the controversial question: Are we preparing people for the jobs of the future, or are we training them for jobs that won't exist?

As AI continues to change the workforce, I'm looking at an opportunity most people aren't talking about: serving the millions of Baby Boomers who are entering retirement.

From skilled trades and home services to caregiving, Medicare, and retirement planning, people will still need trustworthy humans to solve real problems.

The question isn't just what AI will replace. It's what people will still need.

What skill would you learn today to stay valuable in an AI-driven world? by @bradyenman_

Being married for over 10 years doesn't mean you've figured out how to love each other well.

Mandy and I went to a marriage conference this weekend, and one thing we brought home was a tool called Heart Talk.

We actually put it into practice tonight.

And I learned something about myself.

When Mandy is trying to tell me how she feels, I can get caught up in shame, shut down, or start trying to fix the problem.

The reality is she usually doesn't need me to fix anything. She needs me to hear her. To understand what's happening in her heart without making it about my own reaction.

That's harder for me than I'd like to admit.

Tonight wasn't about solving every problem or making everything better. It was about being honest with each other, listening, and trying to understand.

We're still learning how to do this.

I don't just want to stay married to Mandy. I want to keep growing closer to her.

That takes more than loving each other. It takes learning how to show that love in the ways the other person needs it. by @bradyenman_
