✨ MEET THE TEAM OF THE ICE KEEPS 🧊

Heather Jarvie, Director (she/her)
Heather Jarvie is a neurodivergent/dynamically disabled artist, director, producer, and co-founder of hapax theatre. A passionate advocate for equity and inclusion, she has worked in Victoria’s independent theatre community for over two decades. Her directing credits include Harvey, Company, Nevermore, Castle On The Farm, Lay Down All Dogs, and The Incredible Glowing Woman. Heather is also a former Artist-in-Residence with Pacific Opera Victoria and the Icelandic Opera.

Taylor Guidotti, Stage Manager (she/they)
Taylor is a stage, production, and festival manager, and a graduate of the University of Victoria. She has worn many hats in various performing arts events and festivals in Alberta and British Columbia. Previous theatre credits include the One Act Play Festival (Festival SM), Beside Myself (hapax theatre), 1ForUOne4Me (JE M’APPELLE TROMBONE), and Genki Bear: Memoirs of a Granddaughter (Kizuna Theatre). She is very excited to be working with this phenomenal team, and hopes you enjoy your journey aboard the Endurance.

Bragi Theatre, Puppet Design
Named for the Norse god of poetry, Bragi Theatre produces pathfinding theatre that dares to sail beyond the confines of genre. Its core members are Nicholas Guerreiro (he/him) and Annie Konstantinov (they/she). Recent projects include Consider the Dongfish (best production, Victoria One-Act Play Festival), The Hawk Lover (best directing, Victoria One-Act Play Festival), and Bedsprings (best performances, Victoria One-Act Play Festival.) Other projects include two miniplays (Inkjet Apostle and The Funeral Plot) for the Belfry SPARK Festival, and five short site-specific plays for SKAMpede. Bragi Theatre is based in Victoria, BC, on the traditional territory of the lək̓wəŋən-Speaking Peoples.

Ricki Healey, Projectionist, Set/Costume/Prop Design & Performer (she/her)
Ricki is a multidisciplinary theatre artist based in Victoria. She has been an associate artist with hapax theatre since 2022 and made her directorial debut in 2024 with by @bragitheatre

THE ICE KEEPS opens on Aug 27 @ 9:15pm — night owls, this one is for you 🦉

Climb aboard the Endurance and set sail with Shackleton and his crew. Based on the true story of Ernest Shackleton’s doomed 1914 Antarctic expedition, THE ICE KEEPS follows these men as they face months of uncertainty, isolation, and impossible odds in a fight to stay alive after their ship is trapped in pack ice. In this gender-bent reimagining, four women take centre stage to re-frame the narrative and weave a tale of hubris, adventure, and the power of human resilience.

We're thrilled to be partnering with @melissa.lo.taylor to present her new play THE ICE KEEPS at the SKAM Satellite Studio venue. You can also catch Melissa in the cast, and be treated to @hjarvie's fantastic direction. It’s not just a hapax party, @bragitheatre is also sharing their puppetry talents with us, and what they’re creating is truly something special. Do not miss this show!
