“Grunge Halloween Toni Braxton”

That was the North Star for the sound of Traumarama—a phrase that bewildered everyone who heard it. I like to think we nailed it.

Traumarama is a song about thinking you’re over some things that, it turns out, you are not. For me, it reared its head in the form of a baffling autoimmune disease that somehow both risks blinding me and makes me fart a lot when I wake up. Being described as “generally inflamed” has forced me to give up my cheeseburgers and Prosecco lifestyle. I bought a smoothie maker. It’s going to be ok. Eventually, I will fart less.

I want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who made this track possible. The multitalented producer Tim Beutler (@adsr) who came from Berlin to record with us in person for the first time. Sara Ciscato (@iamessymusic) for recording vocals and dragging the good stuff out of me. Svenja Delaney from @kommandokreativ for her beautiful album artwork. And of course my much cooler than me husband @brainarmstremf for ripping on the guitar and generally being the best—I love you.
