BRING IT 33!💥

The older I get the wiser I become, and one thing is for sure…. You can’t put a price tag on wisdom.

Today is the last day that I’ll ever be 32, and as I reflect back on this roller coaster of a year (as it was for most of the world), regardless of how messy and scary it was, it was hands down my GREATEST year of all time.

Medically retired from my shortly lived career in fire service at age 32 took my life for a bit of a turn… Having to come up with a plan B forced me out of my comfort zone and pushed me in many ways more than one. One in which was pursuing my deepest passions.

These last 365 days in the midst of TBI recovery I still managed to become a certified health coach, write a 100 page ebook which is now my three month program, launched my own business helping people transform their lives, bought the car I wanted, moved into my dream condo, got my daughter into private school and am able to be the mom I’ve always wanted to be.

I cut out all the negativity and things that were holding me back and started dispersing my energy much more wisely. I got extremely intentional with my time, and the life I wanted to create.

I share this with you because in the midst of my world crumbling I was able to take all the pain and heart ache and use it towards a greater good, and if I can crawl myself out of the dark you can too!

Life is too to short to waste. You have the power to pick up the pieces and steer yourself in whichever direction you choose.

Pick up the pieces, get intentional, be relentless, ask yourself the hard questions, have the difficult conversations. Stop talking. Stop wishing. Start doing.

As always, life is what you make it❤️ taken in Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire by @brainbodybeyond

Before I could help my clients change their lives I had my own healing journey to go through... and I'm spilling the tea on all that and more on this week's episode of the #captivateandconvert podcast with (my client) @christyCegelski 😍

This episode is part 1 of a 2-part interview focusing on my journey from over-medicated kid to TBI survivor and health coach!

Tune in for the low-down on:

✅ how I weaned myself off of all the psychiatric medications I'd been taking for years.
✅ my recovery from food & exercise addiction & what food sobriety really looks like.
✅ how a traumatic brain injury forced me into early retirement from the fire service and into my health coaching career.

Left picture- Carb fueled. Over exercising, bulimic, binging, purging, uncomfortable in my own skin. Spent countless hours working out to try and out run my destructive eating behaviors. An unhealthy relationship with food and exercise would be an understatement.

Right picture- FAT fueled. Trains smarter not harder. Eats to nourish. Freed from food addiction, eating disorder and destructive behaviors. Healthy relationship with food and exercise. More confident than ever and comfortable in my own skin!

Life is too short to be unhealthy and miserable. Choose your hard! by @brainbodybeyond

Remember how everyone used to use sweet and low? Then, that was bad, so they started using splenda?

These were apparently SOOOOOO healthy for you.

Then, we realized aspartame and sucralose WRECK the gut microbiome and can cause liver inflammation (oops).

Now, were onto stevia. *cue the eyeroll*

CAN WE QUIT TRYING TO "TRICK" OUR BODIES? It's obviously not working.

Stevia contains stevia glycoside molecules, which are 250-300x sweeter than sugar. When you taste the sweetness, your body instantly prepares for the oncoming sugar.

When we taste sweetness, insulin, our blood sugar lowering hormone rises, allowing sugar to be taken into the cells.

When no glucose enters the system, blood sugar is now low.

Low blood sugar IS stressful- the cells need fuel.

And the body HAS to raise blood sugar.

So, cortisol and adrenaline surge to mobilize stored glucose or create glucose out of our tissues to get BS up.

When our body craves sweet- its craving energy for the cells.

Your sweet tooth is quite literally trying to save you from eating yourself.

The biological purpose of cravings is a compass for you to know what foods the body needs, so it doesn't have to go through this stressful process.

A cheap imitation doesn't provide it with what its asking for, so eventually the craving becomes stronger and more frequent.

The body deserves the HONOR and respect of being provided with what it needs- and if it doesn't get it, never forget, our bodies are smarter than we are.

In addition, there's increasing discussion that excessive stevia consumption is affecting fertility and periods and may have even been used as a form of birth control in some cultures.

People are making observations that because its in the family of Terpenoids, stevia's molecular structure resembles very closely to a steroid and it possible affects us physiologically much more than we understand.

I know for me, when I used stevia (or sugar alcohols like Swerve) instead of high quality carbs and natural sugars like raw honey & maple syrup it made me obsessed with sugar and changed my tastebuds in a way I was NOT comfortable with. NEVER AGAIN 🙅🏼‍♀️ by @brainbodybeyond

As a liver specialist, I am supposed to focus on that organ and not over step my speciality. But how can I do that knowing my patients with fatty liver disease are much more likely to die from heart disease. We need to look at the patient and their problems in their entirety. by @brainbodybeyond
