✨Am I sweating because it’s 500 degrees outside or because I was early working a Sunday morning after having my third bourbon lemonade at midnight? Oh summer how I love theeHave you been to a tasting experience put on by 1618 On Location? Chocolate Pound Cake with Caramel Icing 🧁An old and cherished family recipeNot my family but still…… a shared recipe from a client for a fun event. A recipe that probably brings up the feel goods. One of my favorite things to do is to create something I’m proud of and to share it with people who appreciate that and in return it brings them a little (or a lot) of joy. Maybe gives them the feel goods. I can’t do a lot of things but I can do that.This is a bake sale cake. This is a blue ribbon at the country fair cake. This is a fellowship after church on Sunday under the wooden picnic shelter that the men’s prayer group built for the kids to sit under when they drink Kool-Aid and eat Oreos at vacation bible school type cake. A cake you take for bereavement and you slide it onto the counter with the other 18 cakes pies puddings and casseroles made with cheese and butter and ritz crackers. (I know things)This cake is dense and moist (my tweak) and light at the same time and the icing will make your teeth hurt so good. A beautiful union. I made six of them so I hope it’s well received! khao niao mamuang AKA Mango Sticky Rice 🥭 Something new!I don’t eat rice on the regular. Like ever. But I could eat a truckload of this it is deLISH. It had me at coconut sauce. The rest is pretty straight forward. You MUST use glutinous rice and steaming is the way to go. And really ripe mangos to finish it off. Dreamy. And so perfect for these summertime temps. Got me dreaming about a vacay. My city feels smaller and smaller by the minute. Everywhere I go…there I am. But with a little delusion and audacity anything is possible! I’ll pack a bag. Been a while since I made cake pops. Three, four, five years I guess. I don’t want to count the time gone by anymore. Does not bring about the feel goods. I’d like to live a Jeremiah Johnson (the movie one not the real brutal and violent one) kind of life with no concept of any such thing. Just me walking in the woods transcending into a peaceful acceptance. If only. Right now I’ll just transcend at the pool for the next few months getting sunkissed sipping on cocktails daydreaming about it all. But my wheels they do keep spinning. One day I’ll be free 🕊️ Anyways back to the current reality. Today I give you chocolate upon chocolate or vanilla funfetti(Funfetti. So catchy) Or one of each! Hello 🍅 I made a rustic tomato tart yesterday. (Tomato pie version if you’re not too fancy) Six of them actually. With these summertime temps it felt appropriate. Aren’t they so pretty in their fluted blue stoneware dishes? Blue is my favorite did ya know? Too bad I didn’t get a bite they’re off to some lovely springtime shindig. ✨Mochi bites! But fancy. 🍡Wasn’t aware these were made with more than just ice cream in the middle I’m obviously late to the party. I was all like eww no I don’t wanna wha wha wha and then Super G had a cute little assortment of flavors to try like black sesame and peanut and I was like omg yum I wanna yes yes yes. Addictive. Not me the mochi bites. Wait yes me. Haha joking…. Am I though? 😉 Spring is in three weeks and I’m feeling fiiiine.I can’t wait to not wear socks or pants or jackets or sweaters etc etc. The sun rules me.
