One of my most prized possessions is an interview I did with my Dad a year before he passed. It was just a voice memo on my phone but during that hour I learned so many things I didn’t know about him. More importantly, I have his voice and mannerisms and laugh and amazing story telling captured for me to listen to forever and ever. This is such an easy thing you can do one night while you’re sitting on the couch hanging out, or after dinner around the supper table. You don’t have to make it a big thing. But THIS, this is the one thing you should do with your parents before they die. You will be so glad you have it.

Here are just some of the questions I asked him:

•What was life like for you growing up?
•What kind of kid were you? A typical weekday and weeknight?
•Who was your best friend growing up?
•What did you want to be when you grew up?
•What was the craziest thing you ever did?
•How did you choose your career?
•What are you most proud of?
•Who was the biggest influence on your life?
•Anything you would go back and do differently?
•How did you know Mom was the one?
•What is your favorite memory with our family?
•What was the happiest time in your life?
•What was your favorite place you visited?
•What values do you wish to pass on to your children and grandchildren?
•What are the most important life lessons you’ve learned?
•Besides family, what is your most prized possession?
•How do you want to be remembered?
•What are you most thankful for?

Sometimes it takes actually going to church to silence all the noise and detach from your phone, the stresses and anxiety of life, all the things that are expected of you, the things you manage, the group texts, the looming to do list and anything else weighing you down—to actually be still and pray and meditate. Daily mass has been my solution for all of it!!! So so grateful for this gift I get to receive as a Catholic. taken in Manhattan Beach, California by @brandimilloy

Whether it’s choosing the right blend for turn down service for my babies bedtime at night, choosing the right fragrance for a big meeting, the best essential oil for praying the rosary —I love how the right scent can completely change the mood!!! This combination is so good. I just started layering it and I swear I pick up something different every time I wear it. You’ll have to let me know if you try it and what you think! California Sushi Roll Bowl at home! And this is full of flavor!!! I’ve been told that people order California sushi rolls as filler or just for the kids, but there’s a spot here in LA that makes the most delicious CA rolls because they season their rice and add a touch of sesame oil. They are insanely good, but I never feel like I can eat enough to feel full. This is such a great hack to make amazing sushi roll bowls at home. Every day before I had to the carpool pick up line I make myself an icy beverage to sip on while I enjoy my latest read. Lately I have been really enjoying this salted caramel latte. Simply swirl as much caramel in your cup as you would like. I picked up a jar of French caramel from Trader Joe’s. Next, you’re going to add a few shots of espresso, a sprinkle of salt and give it a mix. Add your milk (and a little creamer if you’d like) and tons of ice. What’s everyone reading right now?
