young we are, and yet have stood like planted hearts in the great sun of love so long, as two fair trees in woodland stand utterly entwined and breathe the air and suck the very light together, that we have become as one, deep rooted in the soil of life and tangled in the sweet growth - J.R.R. I guess it’s earth day? Here’s some photos from the Whitney mountaineers route this weekend.

🏔️ Full Whitney story 🏔️
Set out on the climb from the valley floor in 74 degree weather with shorts and shoes. The road to Whitney portal is closed by lone pine. Our packs were very heavy due to the range of conditions. By the end of night one we were above tree line and camping in sub freezing temperatures. Avalanches made route finding difficult. Record snow levels made every step a huge achievement. We ended up coming 1500’ short of the summit this time and turned around due to unsafe snow conditions in the late afternoon. After all the work, we just didn’t have the ability to take another night above tree line. So we down hiked. It was fun to be beaten and humbled by Mother Nature. I will be spending the next two weeks gathering equipment and I will attempt the mountaineers route again in may. taken in Mt. Whitney by @brandoncelliott
